I don't know if any of you have noticed this. But I can't keep up with a Honda Accord or even a Neon (if we race side by side :-).

I remember the old days that my old 97 4runner (with ECT on) beat up a Porsch 911.

I think it may have something to do with the new transmission ?? Or maybe I just need to be a little aggressive on the gas pedal ??

Being lighter vehicles, they have a significant advantage in the horsepower-to-weight ratio. Remember most of them have 200+ hp engines and weigh at lease 1,000 pounds less than a 4Runner.

Dont know, my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with FIPK, thermostat mod, and flowmaster could eat accords and neons any day.

A newer BMW 525 sedan tried to keep up with me on the freeway up a long grade. 60mph at the bottom, he gunned it, I laughed and let him accelerate. Then I gunned it, not even flooring it. I blew his doors off and he only caught back up on the long descent when I was just coasting.
This is with my heavy MT/R's, roof rack and stuff in the back.

Everyone is right, this is a truck not a sportscar but it has, imo, fantastic power. I got it mainly because it is the ultimate road trip vehicle.

That's why I opted for the V8 though the V6 looked really impressive on paper.

But, in the last couple days I've been doing my drive home, up 4k' from Denver into the mountains and I've blown away everything that attempted to keep up with me so far including a Tahoe, Durango 5.7L, Expedition, Some ugly souped up V8 Chevy thing, (the guy tried to prevent me passing b4 the one lane merge, all he could do was flip me the bird!)

Yup, very happy with passing power on this puppy so far

And why would you want to race a 4runner? Just wondering :D This friggin thing is a brick, can't really expect much out of it you know :)

Now add some mods like a SC/Turbo/NOS then you might be able to move a tad bit quicker! :p

it would take a lot more power than that to get this brick moving like a sports car.

When it comes to speed I will take my Mustang over my 4Runner any day. Love that acceleration, smoking tires and talk about some noise.

I own both a V6 '03 Accord and a V6 '03 SR5. Though I've never raced my wife down the road, I think I can safely say that my Accord would crush my SR5. The car is much lighter and definitely more aero.
