Hi all,

Asking this question for a friend with a stock V8 4th gen. Will these size tires be okay to put on her 4runner without any issues?

Thanks!

I have 255/70/17 on my 03 SE V8 4x4. no issues at all. I cant speak for the 75, sorry, but I have no rubbing issues at all with stock suspension, no spacers, no lift.

Volley, Please take a look at the sticky - 4th gen suspension options / FAQ by ARK_SWAMP_RIDER.
Per the FAQ you may need a 1 inch lift with that size to prevent rubbing. These are not absolute, just recommendations. I ran 255/70R17 with no lift and no issues. Last year I switched to 265/70R17 on FJ rims (still no lift) and all I have is the smallest amount of rubbing at full lock in reverse. I did not remove the mud flaps nor did I move the fender liner.

I have 255/75/17's. I ran them totally stock and had no rubbing anywhere. I did remove mud flaps though. Then I lifted it and now I rub ever so slightly in reverse at full lock but I've gotten use to it. I also have 5th gen wheels that have a little more back spacing than the 4th gen wheels so it pushes the wheel out a little further. But I still don't think you'd have many issues. Go for it.

Stock tire (265/65/17) diameter is 30.6". The diameter of 255/75/17 is 32". I used to run 265/70/17's (31.8" diameter) on my sagging stock suspension and wheels and I had just the slightest rubbing at full lock. I think your friend will be just fine but with maybe a little rubbing on the mud flaps

Thanks all for the quick replies and for the sticky. I'm normally in the 3rd Gen forum and was just trying to help out a buddy and didn't see the sticky. Thanks again!
