255/85r16 Vs 285/75r16 ? ? ?

Looking to put 33" s on my 4th gen with the 2.5/1.5 DS kit. I am trying to go with the tire that will require the least trimming. I know there are a lot of trimming threads on here, but I couldn't find a comparison of the these two different sizes and I'm not sure where/how each tire will rub. I have a lot more choices if I go with the 285's but something tells me they will require the most trimming. Can anyone help? Also what will spacers do for those different sizes other than offset the tires from the hub so they don't look so recessed.

285's will require trimming and probably spacers....you can run 275 w/o trimming or spacers...DS kit recommends no more than 32's....something to consider...2 cents

Lots of guys here run 33's with Daystar, I believe...but then again, if you're going 33's then you probably want to do some serious off-roading and should go with a full suspension kit.

PS - 33's probably will impact gas mileage quite a bit (not that it matters I guess)....

Not too much off roading at all really, just want the look, not my DD so a lil loss in gas mileage is ok

I would think that the 255's would be easier to fit due to being narrow, especially if you want to run wheel spacers. However, they are a bit taller so that may end up working against you. You may be able to run the 255's on OEM wheels without need for spacers which may help you not rub. Lots of folks run 255's on tacomas, some rub like crazy and others don't rub at all. With tires that size, anyway you look at it, you will have to at least trim something.
