Yup. People hear that the '85 with the 22re is the holy grail of trail rigs, and get a little crazy with the sticker price when they think they've got a clean one.
They forget that people that want a nice truck don't really want a 30 year old truck, and people that want a 30 year old truck aren't going to do nice things to it.

Yeah, that's a lot. Sure, they painted the undercarriage, but then they put cheapo Walmart tires on it? Nexen Roadian? Didn't know that was a premium tire.

You're not kidding. That's a complete Total Chaos front end conversion, front and rear selectables, a 3.4 swap with dual cases, a full plate bumper and sliders package, and I bet I'd have enough left to raise the drivetrain and do a flatbelly skid!

I'm so sick of people thinking their 4runners are made out of gold... Sounds like this guy is on crack asking 26k. Just looked at one today that the guy was asking 5500 for. Would gladly pay that much for something very clean, not an 86 with rusty fenders, a tired 240k engine that burns oil, loads of past due maintenance and in need of a complete suspension overhaul. Sorry, just venting, lol :redbrick:

LOL its not a stock clean rig its a restored so who knows what they went cheap on a can of paint isnt much to spray onto the under carriage.

I wouldn't pay $26k for 93toy or Slacker's rigs, and they're the most incredible early Yotas I've ever seen. Whatever drugs this seller's taking, we should all have some, because they give mighty good delusions of grandeur.

The thing is, in most parts of the country, a solid 1st gen with most of it's original parts is getting harder to find. 1985's are even a little harder. But let's get real!
They made a million of them and the bottom line is that it's still a simple Toyota SUV. Yeah, they're fun, desirable and (in my eyes at least!) a classic. But 26K is just insanity. Why even advertise until your head comes out of the stratosphere?!
I've thought about selling Tyrone at times, but if I ever do I assure you it will be a realistic price.
Let's just hope someone with tons of cash and no patience doesn't actually scoop this one up at 26K!!

This pisses me off cause I feel the guy is just trying to rip someone off. However, if your a true Toyota enthusiast, even with the biggest wood for a clean 85 (like many of us), they would know better than to pay that sort of cash for it.
Lastly, its restored,not original...which would drop the price in my mind a bit further.

Cali price? Check Hawaii CL..but even then a gem like this would be more like 13-14k in Hawaii not 26k
