265/65 R18 Toyo Open Country AT

I've searched all through the forums and couldn't come up with any pictures of these tires on a 4th gen 4Runner which is odd because they seem to be a pretty good choice of tire, basically the same tread as the Terra Grappler.

If you have pictures or know where I might find some I'd appreciate a link.

Curious to see what they look like, might be getting them installed on Saturday.

I don't have any pics for you but I do have an opinion. We had these tires on my wifes previous truck, an Expedition. I hated them, they were noisy and the tread wear was very uneven. They did look good though. I wouldn't recommend them.

Sorry do not have pics but I did go through 2 full sets of these tires on my Explorer Limited and was working on my third set when we traded it for the 4Runner. I never had any problems with the Toyo's and they improved the ride in the Explorer and worked well in rain/snow and dry weather.

I made the appointment for saturday but I might pull out. I'm thinking about downsizing to 17" wheels so that I can have more choices in sizes and brands as well as get some nice black aftermarket wheels like KMC misfit or black rhino' sidewinder, method racing wheels are also very cool.

or maybe I'll try to stuff some 275/65 R18 Destinations in, should be able to fit these if I move the fender liner and trim, also probably need spidertrax and probably plasti-dip my limited wheels.

I'm undecided but I have a few days to think about it still and of course debate my choices on here.

Toyo is probably a good tire but I'm not a fan of the look of them, the side walls are so plain. The Nitto TG looks much cooler.

There's a few members that have the Toyo AT but I couldn't find any in the size you're looking for. Not sure how beneficial that would be.

I have had 2 sets of the Toyo's (2002 Highlander) I would highly recommend them.. I'll probably put them on my T4R when the time comes..

If I was on the trails more, toyo MT would probably be my first choice, it has great reviews and looks really good but I don't offroad very much so the MT would be useless, aside from looking awesome.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with a 275/65R18 now, I've found a few pictures of guys with that size and only a daystar lift and it seems to work.

like this guy. except I'll put 275/65R18 terra grapplers instead of Michelin AT2. what do you guys think I'll need to do to eliminate rubbing? simple fender liner mod and a bit of trimming?

I run 275/65-18 terra grapplers and when I first got them put on, almost a year ago, I only had a Daystar lift in. If I remember correctly the only thing I had to do was move the fender liner forward. However, keep in mind, I wasn't running Spidertrax at the time, so I can't speak for fitment of that size with Daystar and Spidertrax. If you are or want to run spacers it still probably will fit, but you might have to pull the front mud flaps. I even had to do this when i installed my Spidertrax with my 886's. Hope this helps.

I went through the entire lift and tires thread last night and I specifically remember your picture on there. I was actually looking for your post again today. I think you just convinced me to go with the nitto's in that size.

Which 275/65R18's did you choose? the LT or the one with the *

I actually wanted the LT ones but the shop only had the XL ones on the sale they were running, so that is what I got. When I get new tires I plan on LT, but I cannot complain about these. They have been great tires. I probably have about 20-25,000 miles on them and still lots of life left. Just remember to rotate regularly.
