seriously, let me know if you find something out! patent it! bigger tires unfortunaltely. get 265/75/16, there an inch bigger vertically, and taller than 275/70/16's (by .4 inch) but those are wider

I have MTRs on mine and they rub only when im at full lock on a flex.. otherwise they dont rub.
mtr 265/75s are pretty beefy looking.. just check out my link in my sig and goto the last page. thats what they would look like

I'm about to buy some Firestone Destination A/T's, and I'm driving a stock 2001. It looks too low for my liking, and I'm wondering if I should order the 265/70/16 or the 265/75/16.
I don't want any issues if I stay stock, but I'm also considering a 1" lift in the near future.
On another note, right now it has 255/70/16 Grabber AT2's (previous owner, I hate them), and the speedometer is off. It says 55 and I'm really doing 50. What will the bigger tire do? Say 48 when I'm really doing 50?

Just go with the 265/75's, you wont regret it.
I don't think the tire size will make that big a difference. I think guys here were saying it is just a couple mph. You can do the calculation yourself, but you would want to actually measure the height of the tires rather than go by the official size.

It's easy to spot the guys that have already made the decision, but just need arbitrary justification...
I put 265/75/16 Duratracs on my stock suspension and it looked great. It completely filled the wheel well, and I did have some very slight rubbing, but I didn't notice it until I got under there and looked, and I think it was due to my jacked up front bumper.
265/70/17 is the exact same as as 265/75/16 for most tires. LTs tend to run a tab bit taller, but not by much.

Spot on! Basically I read up throughout here, and was pretty sure it would work, but just needed someone to say that they wouldn't be a **** up before I paid money.
Should have five tires and a used matching rim to set up a 5 tire rotation by next Wednesday. Want to get the running boards off, flaps put behind the front wheels, and a 1" lift. Then my Runner might stop looking like a station wagon.
where are you getting your tires from? I got my last set through York Auto on Bishop drive and they actually bought them from tirerack.com
So I went in said, here's what I want on tirerack, they added their charge (I think 25$ a tire) and they picked the tires up from Holton Maine, and balanced and installed them for less than I could get the tires alone in Canada.

:wow: Never thought of something like that. I'm getting them from downtown at the Firestone place. It's 1065 for 5, installed, balanced, taxed, etc. A little expensive, but better than the prices I was getting from places on Goodyear and BFG tires.
