265/70/17 BFG A/T Rubbing a problem?

It's hard finding a thread about these tires or atleast I seem to be having problems finding one.

Just bought these tires today because I NEEDED tires and couldn't wait for them to get the Revo's that were out of stock. I had done a lot of research on the 265/70/17 and read that they work and had test fit the Revo's once before but never the BFG's ....

I DO NOT have a lift on my '04 SR5. And my problem is.... I'm having rubbing ONLY when I am hard turning my wheel - basically, I only noticed it when I was backing into my driveway tonight. The ride is fine and didn't have any problems on the way home.

My worry is.... is this going to jack up my car if I don't change them out for a smaller size?

The rubbing is occurring on the tread itself.... not the side wall. So, these being my first tires I've bought brand new.... didn't know if this problem will diminish over time or what?

Please give me input. I have to make a trip this weekend to Houston and really don't want a problem to ensue from tires that are too big.

No worries. My truck is stock height and, yeah, the BFGs rub a little under the kind of conditions you described but it wont' hurt a thing. Have almost 40k on them.

I had some rubbing under hard turning on the Cherokee with oversize BFG's and it never created any problems. If you're concerned park it with the wheels turned hard or have somebody else do it and figure out what it's rubbing against. Then decide if it will create damage over time or not. I've seen plenty of posts on this forum from users loving that size BFG's and never heard of any problems. Based on my experience with the Cherokee, you'll get used to it and adapt so that you only crank it that tight when you need to which is when going very slow anyways.

Could be because you have a 2wd which sits lower then a 4wd , just a guess.

Thanks for the peace of mind. I assumed it wouldn't be a problem, but it never hurts to ask. Now that I've had more time to research it, it's definately not an issue. If I really want to I can trim that plastic piece in about 2 inches and never worry about it ever again. But for now I'm cool with it.
