265/70/17 BFG TA air pressure?

I just got the Daystar lift and 265/70/17 BFG All terrain TA tires put on. What have you found to be a good street pressure. It left the tire shop at 45 which I know is to high. I put it at 32 and it seems ok there. One concern is that when coasting down hills that I always had to put it in 4th before or I had to ride the brakes it now goes down in 5th without gaining speed. I guess these tires have a lot more rolling resistance than the original Bridgestones. I may try going slightly higher and do the chalk test.

The chalk test is where you mark across the tread with chalk and then drive over it. If there is chalk on the outside edges of the tire then the pressure is to high. You want the chalk hitting the ground evenly across the tread of the tire.

I settled at around 34 psi. Tires seem to have worn pretty well and stayed in balance. It looks to me like the edges are wearing faster than the middle so 34 could be a bit low, but with a lot of life still in the tread at 40k, it seems to be a good compromise between wear and comfort.

My tires have seen a ton of dirt and fair amount of pavement at 20psi so everything I just said could be irrelevant. :chair:
