265/70 R17 Nitto terra grapplers

I purchased new tires (Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/70 R17) that were just a little taller than stock and had a huge change in handling. I took it for a road trip the day i got the tires 400 miles on the freeway and it felt like i kept having to compensate the steering it was an on going fight. With my stock 265/65 R17 my 4R feels like a sports car. Has anyone else experienced this with there taller tires? I was so unhappy wit them i had them taken off and replaced with Nittos again, but the right size. Just curious, and I'm lovin the new Tires now.

The 265/70/17 are an inch taller than the 265/65/17's . maybe they were bad or not balanced. I've run 265/70/17's from day 1 and handle like a dream.

What type of tire did you use?

maybe the tire you had was a harder rubber compound? i heard nitto's wear out quickly because they are so soft.... I got an alignment and supposedly the tires were balanced, i watched them as they mounted the them... did you have any problems with the tires rubbing? i was concerned with the clearance it had in the wheel well.

I put 265/70/R17 Revo's on my 4R a couple of months ago. I did notice a slight decrease in on-road cornering, but I think it was because I was paying very close attention to any changes in handling, road noise, etc. from the stock Dunlops. It didn't take long for me to get used to them and now they feel great to me. I can't wait until we get some significant snowfall around here to really test them out.

Were the 265/70's the E rated ones or the P rated ones? An 'E' tire will, IMHO, handle like crap at 32-35psi.

No rubbing issues at all.

Different tires always feel/drive different.

A higher profile tire will not respond to steering changes as well as a lower profile tire.
