275/55/20 on LE - do i need to replace spare too?

so I'm about to upgrade tires probably to some michelin's (wife's car, never gonna see more than casual off roading) - was considering going to 275/55/20s - I'm assuming that for the sanity of the AWD setup I need to buy 5 tires and then do a 5 way rotation?

I bought 5, but not planning to do a 5-tire rotation.

I bought it because the one time I had a flat in the 4Runner, it was 300 miles away from home, and running on a different sized tired coming home would not have been my ideal situation.
 
guessing you have a LTD by the 20in tire size..... the 5th wheel isn't the same color as the rest. It's a greenish "primer" color. so.... no.... I wouldn't do the 5 tire rotation.

I have a full size 5th tire/wheel - identical to the others, is that not how it is on all limiteds?

I am in fact....

now it doesn't have a pressure sensor thogh, that's the one thing it's missing and the only way I'd know it's my spare, other than it being caked in dirt from being under the car.

What michelins are you putting on? I wasn't aware that michelin made 20" tire for LE's. My LE came with yokohama geolanders.

well the stock size of 245/60/20 - I have bridgestone dueler HT's at the moment - however one of them consistently goes low, so we're contemplating having to replace them - if i do replace them I'd go to a 275/55/20, get more tread patch, slightly taller sidewall, and look less lame.

In that size there are lots of street tire options and a few truck/AT/MT options - by far the most agressive seems to be the cooper zeon LTZ, which I also put on my cayenne turbo in a 275/45/20 size and loved it. Because it's my wife's mobile I will very likely go with the michilen LTX M/S - which seems to be the quietest truck type tire in that size, there are other pure street tires but we do tow and do very light offroading such that a street tire wouldn't be much help.
 
Check the tire specs - doesn't look like they'll work w/ that 7" wide LE rim (tirerack.com). I want some LTX M/S2s when the time comes but don't want to buy new rims.

i know what the spec says, they'll fit fine - having run LOTS and LOTS of ginormous tires on lots and lots of wheels, a .25" on either side of the wheel will make nearly no difference - While i agree the 7" wide wheel is ret A R D E D (my first WRX came with 7" wheels) it's not worth replacing to me, and frankly a little bit of bulge will help my wife from curbing the crap out of the wheels...

I may drop down to 18s at some point but I actually like the way they look other than the lame tire size.
 
It is the identical rim only its yellow/green correct. I thought i had a normal spare till i took it off the car. From underneath it even looks the same only the face is yellow/green

do you have some photos with your zeon's on? I am considering them just think my wife might be mad... how do they ride?

To be fair, I've only looked at in the dark so it may in fact be yellow/green but it looked silver/grey to me....
