275/70/17 Wildpeaks on stock suspension, will they rub?

Hi, I'm looking at new tires and wheels and leaning towards 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks. The specs show them to be a "big" 275 at 32.4in diameter, kind of in-between a 275 and 285 when compared to more standard sizing. So after a bunch of searching it seems like a lot of the advice on here about going bigger is tough to apply to these specific tires.

Anyone running 275 Wildpeaks with stock suspension and if so, any issues with rubbing?

For wheels, I'm eyeing the Relations Race Wheels RR5 17"x8.5" in 0 offset (if they come back in stock soon as promised). Motegi Trailites MR150 are looking like solid, cheaper backup option.

Fwiw, I've been running 18"x9" wheels with 32.13" Cooper ATs for a few years with no rubbing. Previous owner installed, and it's about time to replace tires so I'm taking the opportunity to do it all and go back to 17s.

I have 265/70r17 and they are significantly larger than your standard 265's, so I'd say they probably will.

I've run these tires on my stock '16 Trail for 15,000 miles. I rub on the driver's side fender liner at full lock in reverse. Occasionally I hit the mudflaps if I'm turning and hit a bump.

I'm open to a small front lift but aiming to keep suspension as close to stock as possible.

I have Falken wildpeak at3w in 275/70/17 on Trd Pro wheels 4mm offset. All I needed to do was move the liner forward and trim a small portion of the front bumper, doesn't rub on the mud flaps on road or off.

I do have a 2.5inch front lift and Jba UCA with close to 5 degrees of caster, so YMMV.

Add me to the list. I removed the mud flaps anyway but did not do the fender mod. There was slight rubbing, one tire only.

It is not that the P265s are tall--they are actually short--it is that they are extremely wide for a 265. They are as wide as many 285s. The LT 265 are taller than the P version.

My current 265 MT ATZ P3 are much taller than the P265 Wildpeaks (full 32") but they do not rub.

Installed today: confirmed that they rub! Mild rub on small section of mudflaps when slow turning.

I have a 1" lift on front AND I did the fender liner mod and bumper trim so no rubbing in front of the tires.

Getting an alignment on Monday with max caster and hoping that does the trick.

Was it worth it? Yep! These tires look and feel awesome.

Mine only kissed the mudflap while in reverse and I mean BARELY touched them.

Get an alignment to adjust them accordingly if needed.

Messing with the alignment to the point of it handling squirrelly so they don’t rub is not the answer.

The alignment is for the lift I just installed.

Will try heating and pressing the mudflaps with the heat gun or just removing them if that doesn't work.

I've got these on a stock 2018 sr5, stock wheels. I added 1.25 spacers and rubs on the rear mud flap and front liner/bumper.

I did the front liner/bumper mod, removed the front mud flap. It only rubs on the driver-side body mount on a full lock.

I've got a lift waiting to go in. Bilstein 5100 set at 1.75.

Rubbing and braking

Yes, they will rub, especially when nosediving and turning at the same time. However, I have to say, I recently had to brake suddenly with these tires in wet weather and the response was phenomenal. Also great in snow, plowing through a mud hole in the road, etc. I am putting in an Ironman 4x4 Nitrogen Gas Stage 3 lift kit in the next two weeks, then getting it aligned. Don't expect to see any more problems with rubbing. Still have the mud flaps on the front. Took them off in the rear because a new aftermarket bumper is going on also.

For those who went 275, did you eventually do a BMC? I'm going to put 275s on stock suspension with fender liner mod and trip where necessary, but want to be prepared for the worst and needing a BMC.
