285/60 18 Tire and Wheel Question

Hello,

Just finished getting a new 5th Gen Trail Edition and would like to upgrade the wheels and tires to the following (e.g. this would give me a tire that is the same diameter but an inch wider):

1) Tires
285/60 18 Toyo Open Country A/T
OPEN COUNTRY A/T | Toyo Tires

2) Wheels
18x8.5 Raceline Renegade 6x5.5 bolt pattern, 108mm Hub, 0mm offset, 4.75” backspace
18x8.5 Raceline Renegade 6x5.5 bolt pattern, 108mm Hub, +12mm offset, 5.25” backspace
Raceline Wheels - 886-Renegade 6 Polished

Everything that I have read on this forum says that as long as the backspace is equal to or less than 4.75” the rim should fit fine; However, both dealers at MULTIPLE locations here in town (e.g. Discount tire and Les Schwab) say it is better to go with the 5.25” backspace so the wheel fits in the wheel well better and does not stick out to much. I told them about the backspace issue on Toyotas and all of them assured me that it will work no problem. They are all very nice folks to work with but I am still curious as to how this will turn out, any thoughts?

Congrats on your new TE!

1) Tires

2)Wheels
18x8.5 Raceline Renegade 6x5.5 bolt pattern, 108mm Hub, 0mm offset, 4.75” backspace
These will fit perfect and be almost exactly even the wheelwell,about .25" inwards.
This size was made especially for Toyota!

The 5.25 backspacing is for Chevy/GMC.
They don't know Yota's!

I believe that you are correct!

I am wondering if I should even waste my time allowing them to go through a fit test with this 5.25" backspaced rim or just simply go to another tire dealer and start the process over again and tell them exactly what I want them to try.

It is beginning to become a bit irritaiting,
