285/75/16

Kinda new here so don't scald me for not properly searching before posting this.

But my question is: I have a stock 02' no suspension mods whatsoever and fender flares. Will the mentioned 285/75/16 fit without causing any issues? (FYI: Tires and wheels are coming off a heavily modded FJ) Lug pattern issues?

If so, any feedback or pitfalls to avoid are welcome along with pics. Thanks in advance.

Those will rub like crazy. Earlier 3rd gens can get away with 33s with some pounding and cutting (there are a couple guys that have done it), but you have a year with the lowest stock height. I just helped a guy put a lift on who had the same year as you...he was rubbing with 32s (265 75 16). You'd definitely want to lift before putting those on. Other than that, the wheels should fit fine lug pattern wise. There are a couple guys running stock FJ wheels.

Guys, I accidently said 285/75/16 and what I meant was 265/75/16. That would be the max size without suspension mods correct?

Thanks

Yes it will fit BUT. depending on tred it might rub at Max flex, like going up my drive way a little quick. Like I do ;D

Exactly. Mine would rub in the front when I would go up a steep driveway apron. It also will depend on how aggressive a thread pattern you have.

It also depends on the manufacturer and tread design. Not all tires run true to size. But in general you should be good, any rubbing you get would be minimal and probably taken care of with some light trimming.

you can also look through people's build threads to get an idea of how different tire/lift combos work.

My 265 treadwrights new and no suspension lift would rub at full turn and during full flex. Now with my 3.5" lift it only rubs a little on the UCA up front. 33's are what I will get next and I'm expecting rub even with my lift.

...and to further hijack this thread...talked to a guy at DT and they will test a tire and if it rubs they will not sale that tire...
