285's QUESTIONS

I know most of the questions to follow have been answered in different post but cant find one with specifics about this topic.
Im installing now king shocks, an icon rear adjustable bar, icon rear coil springs and UC ucas, hope this set up works as expected, but my question now its regarding tire size and specifically 285 vs 265.
I know some have lifted and kept the 265's i would have to see how mine looks lifted and with stock tire size.
Do you have to do any trimming with 285's?
Do you loose a lot of power, I do quite a lot of off road but still drive a lot on highways and i like to drive kind of fast, and being this my daily driver, i do not know if it will affect me a lot.
In extreme off road are there some places or routes i could not take because i went with 265 instead of 285.
thanks in advance, all your opinions here have helped me a lot in the past, i will post pictures very soon i hope

You'll get tired of looking at your 4Runner with 265's, trust me, I did!

I drive mine daily as well, I haven't been off road once since I got the new wheels and tires :crybaby: but that didn't stop me.

If your lifting it enough to need an adjustable rear track bar, the stock size tires are gonna look too small!

Having the bigger tires, you can still drive fast, LOL, it just takes you a little bit longer to get up to speed.

As far as rubbing, since I have the stock UCA's, I just needed to move the inner fender up front a little forward per Harpers instructions and I'm currently only rubbing the mud flap when in reverse turning.

Since UCA's move the tire back a little to give you back caster after lifting it, you might need to remove the mudflap completely and or do the body mount chop. I had to in my Tacoma as soon as I added the Camburg UCA's.

Are you gonna keep your stock Wheels or go aftermarket?

Good luck and cant wait to see your pics!

Check out Craigslist and the classifieds on all these forums (4runner/fjcruiser/tacomaworld/toyotanation and etc.) for tire's and or tire/wheel combos, I've seen quite a few good deals in the last few weeks.

thanks most likely i will go with with the 285 i will keep stock wheels for now to much $$$ wife is not happy since i also order a gobi rack and a 32" light bar

Your 4Runner will look awesome when all said and done!

When you get a chance definitely check out the classified's, that where I found my wheels and tires. Would rather have had Mud Terrains but they are still great tires.

I posted this up in the For sell section, I bought a used 285/70R17 BFG KM2 for my spare from someone in San Marcos, He probably still has at least one left if you were interested, $30.
