295/70/17 w/o Regear? Regrets?

Hey guys! Who here runs 295/70/17's without a regear? Do you regret it?

My total added weight will be approx 450 lbs with armor and roof rack as a daily driver; 600 lbs for my full camping loadout. I have a few months on my tires and would like to upgrade my wheel/tire/suspension while I'm at it. I currently run 285/70/17's with no issues.

I’m running 35’s. Bumper like yours, full skids, roof rack etc. is a re gear necessary? No. Would it help? Probably. Is it worth $3k. Nope.

If you’re towing regularly then maybe it’s more worth it. Or if you live in higher elevations. Driving around town to me personally is a waste. This thing has plenty of power for daily driving.

I run 33's right now without a re-gear, but I would definitely re-gear with 34's or 35's. Probably 4.56. Mainly for off-road use especially downhill the poor crawl ratio requires a lot of brakes on steep downhills. I brake while my buddies Jeep Rubicon at least in first gear requires power. I have wondered though about maybe just gearing down the transfer case instead but I haven't checked out that option.

Thanks! I definitely want to regear but was wondering if it's something I can save for my last modification. I'll share with the t4r hive when I get the supsension and 295/70/17 mounted. I appreciate the responses!

IMHO, it absolutely needs a re-gear unless you live in Florida. Shit, I run 275/70R17 tires and if I could have opted for a 4.10 or 4.30 gear ratio, I would have. It isn't worth it for me, as I don't have any plans to go bigger than that, but the truck is geared very tall.

I will regear but save that for the last mods. For now the wheel/tire/suspension combo will be for the monthly camping trip that's mainly mud and dirt roads. Once I start getting up into the mountains and heading W/NW I'll start looking into a regear.

This is a pretty good discussion on this topic. Better gas mileage in town and worse on the freeway depending on how fast you are driving. Perhaps 34's with 4.56 would be the best combo. Transfer case doesn't seem to be re-gearable.
