2JZ into a 3rd gen

If it can be done with a tacoma, it can be done with a 4runner. The engine bay is pretty much identical.

This is a Tacoma with a manual trans and 4wd,but like white_n_slow said, pretty much identical engine bay and drivetrain on 4Runners.

I haven't really looked into it,but do the 4Runner and Tacoma engine ECUs do any type of control to the 4WD system? This is would be kind of a hurdle if you're using a factory Supra ECU in a 4wd swap.

If you are going to do it, you do it with a manual, the supra should not even been offered with an automatic. You will want maximum control over that beast plus an automatic is So Gay, if you are just there for the ride, then leave the 3.4 in there and keep your automatic.

With enough time, money and know how, you can put anything in it.

If you're going to do the 2JZ swap though, you might as well go all in and do it with Nas too.

Holy crap that is funny.

Engine ECU is not connected to 4x4 controls at all.

Well guys it might be a while before I consider doing the swap. I just got off the phone with Power House Racing who has swapped a 2JZ into a 4runner before and they said it will run about $17,000 :jaw drop: That includes everything working like it came came from the factory like that. Maybe once I get done with school and I'm making 6 figures I will get it done.

That's way to much money for that swap unless the motor is brand new. I just checked my local jdm engine dealer and they have a 2jz with a 4 speed auto for 2g's with ecu and wiring harness, and appartently only 80,000km. Hard to say if you can trust that but I got my motor from them and it is still running strong. I also read earlier that the ecu is not connected to the 4wd system so the hard part would be getting the trans to mount to the transfer case. You might also have to modify the oil pan or the front cross member but its hard to see where 17g came from...

*Note that is non turbo. The turboed 6speed is 4g.
