2nd Gen 4runner rear differential problems

Decided to replace the rear differential seal on my 1990 t4r for the first time. I followed the necessary steps, used Ultra Blue and it sealed up great, but I am having some trouble now getting the drums back on the wheels, my e-brake isnt engaged and all seems fine but the drum wont fit over the brakes. I forced one sides drum on but then noticed the wheel didnt spin when I turned the drive shaft, so I took it off and noticed that when I spin one wheel the other wheel goes in the opposite direction....so now im just baffled. What do I do?

did you push your brake peddle while the wheel was off?? they should slide right back on with no problem at all. try adjusting your brakes down a little that should give you more clearance. and for one wheel spinning the opposite direction that is normal. unless you have a spool, welded or locker in the rear end. im assuming yours doesn't. if you need help give me a call on my cell 503 537 7224 i would be glad to help!!!

Hey thanks for the help, a friend of mine said the same thing so I finished the job off with no problems, just time to bleed the brakes now, not a fan of doing them though

its actually pretty easy to blead the brakes. it does suck doing them by yourself though. what did you find out with the drums not going on??
