2nd Gen gear storage

Finally finished my storage box for stowing gear in the back of my '95 Runner. Not too bad for someone with absolutely no training in carpentry work or cabinetry--I like it, anyway. I've made a few stereo boxes and mounting boards before, but nothing with sliding drawers (no, they didn't work well on the first try, either--had to redo it--LOL). I think I'm going to get some brackets to mount a shovel, Maglite, etc. on top, and maybe some D-rings on the corners for a cargo net. Those are 100# slides on the drawers, so they should hold plenty. If anyone asks, no, I'm not looking to make any more--LOL!

Thanks, fellas! I enjoy a project like this every now and then, trying something new just to see if I can pull it off. This one's pretty much exactly how I envisioned it, so I'm happy!

I just knew SOMEONE would ask for one--LOL! I have no idea how the 1st Gen's are designed, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to make some changes, given the pics I've seen of them. Of course, you'll have direct access to it, Tye, so you can take all the measurements you want, and I'll TELL you how I made it (LOL).

Thanks for the kind remarks! Islander, it's not bolted down just yet--haven't had it in the rig but a couple days. The thing is very heavy as is, and can't move unless I roll, but I will probably tie it into the factory cargo tie-downs. To combatmedic, it would've taken a couple weeks if I worked on it steady (I work on stuff like this VERY casually, just piddling along), but I stopped working on it a few times and got side-tracked. If I was serious, I'm sure it could be done in a couple afternoons. The slides are what messed me up the most--I thought I had the measurements down good, with everything checking squared, but when I tried to put the first drawer in, it was about 1/4" off at one end. I ended up having to break both side walls loose, put the drawers in place, and make new screw holes about 1/8 to 1/4" further in--the "joys" of not really knowing what you're doing (LOL)! Anyway, they work great now.
