Being a high-mileage 2nd gen owner, I can't help but realize that one day (hopefully not too soon), my 4runner is going to crap out on me. I'm sure when that happens, I will be looking for a low(er) mileage 3rd gen 4runner to replace it. I also notice the sad, sad trend of fewer new vehicles being produced with a manual transmission. How common is a five-speed in the 3rd gens? My mom used to have a 2000 PreRunner V6 auto. I don't know much about the newer yotas but that was a good little truck so I am hoping it will share some traits with a newer 4runner.
Also, does anyone know if a 3rd gen front bumper will fit a 2nd gen?
Random story time. I saw a 3rd gen pulling a small-med size tractor on a 16 foot trailer the other day and it barely squatted the rear end. A lot of it had to do with weight distribution, but still impressive.
