2nd Gen Hood Question

My aftermarket hood's striker is too short, so I have to push really hard to get the hood to latch. Plus the gap between the fenders and hood are not lined up.

Is there any way of fixing this?

just like any body panel, replacement or otherwise, there is some adjustment to them. Mark the current bolt locations, and loosen the nuts. You should be able to move the hood a little bit in each direction. As for the striker, is it bolted on? if it is, you probably could add some spacers to it, to lower it a hair.

Aftermarket body parts are always a little dodgy, as a few mm here and a few mm there can mean a huge difference.

Are you talking about the hood bolts? Where are they located? My striker isn't bolted on from what I can tell. So what could I possibly do?

It's all got to be in the adjustment (unless that aftermarket hood mfg are total morons...rare, but does happen).

The hood bolts should be on the hinges. Try looking at the latch assembly for the hood, there must be somewhere that it is bolted on (to the truck's radiator support maybe?) or the striker on the hood perhaps could be shimmed?

you should be able to adjust the hood from the hinge bolts and as far as your latch goes you should be able to loosen the actual hood latch behind the grill and adjust it up a hair so the hood locks like it should :hatsoff:

really? damn that is way easier than I thought it would be haha.

Alright, well I don't know the brand or where the hood came from because I had this shop in El Monte repair the car because it was in an accident.

I should have some pics up later in the day.
