Damn. Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about the 2nd gen 4Runner-even with the seats down, I can't fit a motorbike or an atv in the back. Such a bummer. :mad2:

What did you use to make the bed for the back? Is it just the top section of the back door and some metal at the bottom? I had the same idea for mine.

here's my '93. Picked her up a few weeks ago after sitting in the nevada desert for a few years. Put fresh gas and a battery in it and started right up and drove it home. I already replaced the shocks and grille and added some coil spacers to the rear to bring it back up. Lots of ideas to mod. So little time/money.
I like the color. A little dull, but nice nonetheless.
ainkiller:I do think most of the paint is salvageable. I tried out some polish on the rear quarter panel and it came out really well. Looks like I have another weekend project detailing the paint.I like the color. A little dull, but nice nonetheless.

Nice, good plan. Mine faded because 1994 didn't have good paint preservation technology during production, so the clear coat disappeared and it dulled. Since I'm gonna hold on to it for quite a while, I figured might as well get it repainted professionally in Cardinal Red. The painter got the 'cool strips' or whatever you call them off eBay and applied them. Looks like new.
I hope your paint job ends up clean.

Newbie on here, but not to forums, Yotas or off-road. After looking at every post on this thread over the last week (work's been slow), I decided to get T4R acct and join in the fun. Bought this 95 from orig owner (I've still got the window sticker and selling dealer's delivery envelope) back in 09. Gonna try to upload pic from PC (crosses fingers). Here it is as I bought it + new rubber. And 2nd pic is fairly recent. Lighting in that one shows a few scars, dings, etc, but that was reason (b) of why I bought it.

You gotta post pics when you get it done! The polish is just gonna tie me over til I save up enough for paint. I also have a couple small dents on the driver side rear panel that chipped some paint off and it is starting to rust. Im in the desert and we dont salt the roads much over here. So I dont have to worry about rust too badly.

If you don't mind me asking - How much did it run you?
I'm still the 'original' owner because family vehicle and it doesn't get driven much. '94 that just hit 81k.
It has had a new coat for a few years. I didn't have the time to do it myself, so hence the professional painter. The salt this past winter was dreadful down by DC here. Black vehicles turned murky white after days. I didn't drive much though.
No dings or dents in the body of my 4r, but the rear quarter bumpers are getting really bad flaky rust. I've got some OEM replacements that cost $40 per bumper, and I'll probably put them on, patch the old ones, and spray them black.
The lower front bumper(black/gray by license plate) is also cracked in two symmetrical spots. Unsure if I'm the only one it's happened to.
If I feel up to it I'll grab my camera and take some scenic shots.
