2nd gen to 3rd gen body swap?

First off, I'm a newb to the Toyota world, and I'm glad to be here. We have some exciting plans for our 1991 4runner v6. However, I have come across a cheap low mileage 2000 v6, with the roof heavily damaged. I was just needing to know if it was possible to put the 91 body on the 2000 frame, or if I would be better off just swapping the 3.4 over to the 91. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You might be able to do it as I have seen the 84-89 1st gen bodies swapped over. The 2nd gen body is narrower then the 3rd gen but since you already have both vehicles in your possesion taking a few measurements of body mount locations would be a simple comparison. You will more likely find more information to help with the project as far as engine swap instead of body swap.

Motor swap? hmmm not sure, probably do-able but not sure with the process involved.

Might be easier to cut off the roof, and weld on another one from a junk yard that had a frontal collision.

hmmmmm... thats a good idea. I'm not sure how damaged it is, and if the door frames/jambs were damaged. I will check into this. Thanks EVERYONE for the quick responses.

My vote is for the 3.4 in the '91 or chop and drop the '00
