2nd get Tacoma bumper on 4th gen T4R?

I hate to start a new thread because I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but I can't find anything.

So can (or easily could) an aftermarket front bumper from a 2nd gen Tacoma fit on a 4th gen 4runner?
We all know our market is small and Taco's have much more aftermarket support, being able to share a bumper would greatly increase the options.

Without having physically checked for myself, it looks like it could potentially work. Based off the way the headlights line up and the front suspension being identical; my primary thought for concern would be the radiator and everything up front taking up too much space, or the frame rails possibly being a different size?

I can't imagine this hasn't been asked before, but any insight would be appreciated.

I've had the same question for a while. IRC the taco front end is a little different. Mounting points may not line up and the like. I know the suspension is close enough but the frames can and are probably different. Also we have to account for the mid model changes in the T4R. Ex. Some FJC skid plates work only with 2006+ 4R's. That is because of the change of distance in the frame rails and where the skid plates mount.

But GL and i'd like to find out more because there are many taco guys selling aftermarket bumpers in my area.

Took a look at his IG however it really doesnt give me too much to go on due to him being a fabricator and no instructions or mod process unfortunately...

I've had this question on my mind for a year or so. I actually took some measurements of the bumper mounting pads for a 3rd gen Taco, comparing it to my 4th gen, and 5th gen 4Runners. The first thing that I noticed is the 4Runner mounting pads have four fasteners and the Taco only has three. All the frames are the same width, as this 120 platform hasn't changed more than a few minor differences since Toyota started building them in the early 2000s. The core and radiator supports vary from model to model, but I think with a little work and forethought, a modified aftermarket 2nd gen Taco tube/Baja style bumper would work on a 4th gen 4Runner. A full plate bumper would most likely be more difficult, but possibly doable. No proof, just mho.

Unfortunately, I think Jake (Troymclure) has a full time gig, so only a few members were lucky enough to have one built. And I live 3k miles too far away damn it. FYI, Baja Bumpers (Tacoma pic) closed up shop several years ago.
EDIT: Just looked at The Skid Kid on IG. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a 3rd gen Taco headlight and grill on a 4th gen 4Runner? He does some SICK SHIT by the way. Already subscribed.

Thanks 4RunnerAquasport, that gives me a little more confidence to take this bumper down to a fabricator to get them to adjust the mounting points etc. On my Gen2 Taco bumper it looks like it only has two mounting points on either side though which is strange since you stated the Taco's usually have 3 and the 4R has 4?

toy_yoda4runner on IG runs a taco bumper on his 03, there was another guy too I cant find. I know the 07 grille bumps down lower than the headlight fillers so anything straight across on the top would require cutting grille short.

Thanks for the info. Honestly that stuff doesnt worry me too much its more if the mounting brackets on the bumper will line up to the frame rails or do I need to go to the extreme of welding the entire mount up on the bumper and redrill or even modify even further and extend brackets etc.

Just posted on your build thread. It looks nice and seems to fit up pretty well. Could you tell me if the mounting holes line up and its just the hood adjustments you needed to make? If so then thats certainly something I can do myself, if not then I need to get a shop to do it.

My winch is arriving today and I really want to get this on before spring so I can get out on the trials with snow with some confidence.

eBay Tacoma front Bumper.

I seen a guy on IG that bought a aftermarket 2nd Gen Tacoma bumper on eBay. He said it fit perfectly with a little modification to the AC lines and radiator. Looks like the price has gone up from $600 to $1050.00 since I last seen it on eBay.
