Hi all,
New guy here. I bought my son a 97 high mileage 4runner 10 days before Christmas and he totaled it out 3 days later. It turns out that where we live we have a new species of tree affectionately called the "Mobile Oak" one jumped right out in front of him and hit him dead center. Luckily he, his brother and his friend walked away without a scratch.
So I settled with the insurance company on Friday for $4,100 which is 2k more than I paid for the first one. Bought a replacement 2001 Limited with 205k on it for 3750 Monday and today after filling it up with gas (with the engine running) the check engine, VSC, and VSC track lights came on a mile down the road. I plan on taking it to an auto parts store to get the codes read and will search the forum for so information.
I will not give up on the 4 runners. I have had suburbans, Excursions, Dodge trucks, Chevy trucks, Jaguar convertibles and the 4 runner simply has something special about it that I refuse to give up on.
Anyway I am hoping you folks are as knowledgeable and helpful as the Jaguar forum has been.
