hi, i drive a '94 sr5 2wd, 3.0 v6. I'm looking to convert it to a 4wd, i'm curious as to what all i'll need as far as parts from a donor car. Also has anyone done this conversion before, if so how difficult is it? yes i know everyone on this site is going to tell me its more cost effective to just go buy one with 4wd, however i've had this runner for a while now and my father and i just put in a brand new engine (0 miles), and also fixed everything that could possibly be wrong with it. So to me its a better idea to just convert the one i have since i know all its flaws rather than buy a diff one and have no clue as to whats all wrong with it. thanks

It'd be easier and cheaper to get a 4WD 4runner with a bad engine and swap engines.

Unless you have a lot of metal working, fabrication, and mechanical skills, and the tools and equipment to go with it, and the $$ and time, it'll be a big, big challange.

I've done body swaps, frame swaps, engine conversions, you name it, so I speak from experience.

well i've been thinking about it, it would cost way tooo much to even think about it, i'm just gonna get some decent tires and a winch on the grill gaurd. just use that if i get stuck, plus i'm not planning on doing any supermudding just light offroading
