2WD vs. 4WD Strut Height

What did you ever find out? I'm in the same situation now. I have a 2wd and wondering if I can swap with the 4wd model #
I was unable to find an answer for this, my assumption still remains the same, the coil springs may be a bit beefier to account for the additional weight compared to a 2WD.

your assumption is correct, the 4WD version has a slightly taller spring with a higher spring rate than the 2WD. would probably give at least 1.5" lift over stock.
the KYB coil over shocks (they are not struts) are ~10% stiffer valving & spring rate vs the factory shocks/springs, on a 4WD this will give a slightly firmer ride & about a 1" lift over stock which makes for a nice more level stance.

Just a head's up for anyone who's made it this far.
I bought front/rear KYB Strut+ and rear shocks for my 2WD V8 4Runner from Rockauto. I boungth those specifically becasue I thought they be the best fit as they came pre-assembkled w/front coilsprings.
From Day One they have absolutley sucked and it was a complete waste of $. Front bottoms out over EVERYTHING even when I slow-roll the speed bumps at costco. RockAuto is not an Authorized KYB seller, so their only response is that I can return them for the same product. Great...just what I want to do...switch out one problem for what will likely be another problem.
I will likely replace these with Bilstein 4600 with new OEM front and rear springs. Not looking to lift, just to get back to "new" OEM ride, as my LCAs, swaybar links and bushings, have already been recently replaced.
If I were forced into having to stay with the KYB Strut+ on my 2WD, I probably would've tried the ones for the 4WD with the assumption they were beefier, and maybe those wouldn't have been such a let down, but who want to put on the "wrong" part just to compensate for a likely manufacturer defect?
