My 3.0 throttle gets stuck often in the closed position. it frees up with a little pressure but it revs a little high from being released, makes starting off kindof a pain sometimes. Any ideas on how to free it up?

Thanks for the response guys. I will definitely check the cable out. If the is gunk in the throttle body will it be obvious? This is my first time taking apart anything fuel injected. I have rebuilt carbs. Reckon im not too old to learn.

Yup. Take the intake tube off, look into the throttle body. You'll see the butterfly, and you'll see if there's gunk built up affecting the butterfly.

Check for gunk in the throttle body.

X2 on that one!! Is this a recent problem? A friend of mine had an 89 pickup that he bought and the guy before him added another return spring, for whatever reason, and you damn near had to stand up on the pedal to get it to open, and when it did, it went wide open. A local scrap yard could yield you another throttle cable. Also, check/lube the linkage in your throttle pedal itself, or see if anything is up there that could hinder it, like carpet, sticks, etc
