You can short out the T and E1 plug on the diagnosis plug, but first see if the ignition timing is around 10 BTDC. The distributor should be almost centered in it's adjustable slot, when 10 BTDC is achieved. If that all checks out good, then what I did, is take it for a drive and get the engine up to running temperature, then on occasion stop and with a 12mm wrench loosen the distibutor and re**** the timing just the smallest of amounts. If yours is like mine it will will feel peppier and peppeir for a few ajustments then will kind of bottom out. Once it feels like your power is back, check your timing with a light, it will probably be around 7 or 8 BTDC. After I tuned mine by feel, and sound, I got 21 to 23 mpg, and was able to hold 5th gear on long grades. Hope this helps
