3/2 cornfed/daystar vs. OME Lift

Hi,

I just wanted to get some feedback on the OME lift and spacer lifts. I've been checking out the lift thread and have come across a couple trucks i like but am looking for more information that i can't find through the search function.

I rather have new springs and shocks than spacers. I just like to know if i will have the same look with the OME vs the 3/2 spacers?

I also have 18" rims and am trying to figure out if i can fit the 275/65/18 vs the 265/65/18 with out having any rubbing issues.

Are wheel spacers need for rubbing issues or for apperance?

Thanks for everyones input and time.

with the OME setup youll get 2.5 upfront, with the top plate spacer its about 3. it will provide a firmmer ride & handling than stock setup with spacers, but will look about the same as the 3/2 if u get the topout spacer. OME full suspension -- Click here for details - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits wheel spacers with stock wheels help to clear rubbing on the arms but may add to rubbing on the inner fender & bumper. stay with a 32 in. tall tire & the spare will still fit in stock location.

With how much lift do you recommend the diff drop? I'm about to put on FJ springs and am still deciding what size spacers to install. The need to do a diff drop might factor in, or at least I'll know that I should do the diff drop, even if I don't do it at the same time as the lift.

Supposedly you need to do a diff drop kit if you go more than or equal to 3" in order to reduce strain on the CV's

Not necessary or recommended for such a small lift.

:iagree:100%

Just look at the CV's when stock. They actually angle up a good bit. Something around 1.5"-2" of lift has them perfectly straight, just under 3" of lift has them angling down as much as they used to angle up.

The third gens are a whole other deal, the diff drop is necessary and some of the best money you'll ever spend; not so critical on the 4th gen.

Don't waste your money on Cornfed!!! :barf:

Why is that?

Also, I'd assume that spacers are spacers (some being metal, some being poly) but noticed that the spacers are pricey for cornfed. That said, who makes the least inexpensive spacer lift in a 3/2 combo (or larger if possible)? I don't offroad other than camping, fishing and taking the quads out. I just want to fit larger wheels/tires underneath without rubbing my teeth out.

I just replaced my Revtec front spacer lift with OME medium springs and shocks. Did it myself last week over 2 evenings. The OME is taller and the ride is stiffer but in a good way, not as much roll. The spacers I removed are heavy - perhaps Cornfed is lighter? I have ran OME HD rear springs for 4 years and love em. Stiff as all get out unloaded but great with hundred plus lbs in the back. I do not plan on a diff drop - I like the 14 inches of clearance hehe. Obviously if I could do it over I would go OME (but they did not have a kit back in 04).

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

If you need a visual....after my OME (from Toytec:thumb3:) med. duty suspension lift. By far, the best $$$ I've put into my 4Runner. And yes, I did the diff drop as well. I'm looking for wheel spacers, and then I'm going to 285's. Down the road, in a year or more, I'm going to get after market UCA's, and go back to ToyTec for another 3" lift kit. I had a little grease leaking from my CV Joints, so I had them both replaced under warranty. I'm glad I did that, as she's no longer covered by warranty. You can still see some of that grease in the below pic. This was the next day after the dealership installed new the new CV's.

:iagree: I currently have Daystar Spacer Lift 2.5/1.5 (Preload/Topout) & I outgrew them after 2 months.

Just no money to replace them yet. Most likely with Icons or Radflos.

Check out ProMed's Thread (but pictures may not show up).

He has 275/65R18 Cooper Discoverer STT and it fits underneath as a spare too. (will vary according to Tread Pattern/Thread Thickness)

You would need 1.25" Wheel Spacers/Wheel Adaptors to prevent rubbing but it will add wear on the wheel bearings.

I disagree having fit 285/60R18's without wheel spacers. I think 275 will fit just perfectly. Adding wheels spacers will push the wheel & tire out, changing the radius arc of the wheel. This change might force trimming or moving the front wheel well's & or the front mud flaps. I suggest trying 275's without any spacer and see where you stand.

I like the way wheel spacers push the wheels out but they have the potential to cause problems depending on the size tire. To fit 285's aftermarket uca's are needed to properly clear the tires in the front.

I was under the impression that if something goes wrong as a result of a mod, the warranty wouldn't cover it. Why didn't argue that your modified suspension caused the problem and refuse service? Are they not affected by the suspension mods?

Just wondering as I'm working on my first suspension mod

Thank you sir for clarifying that.

What is the max. section width you can have without rubbing. I know the stock tires are 10.4 and the 275/65/18 are 10.8 section width.

I am new to this and after looking at all the pics in the lift forum I have decided on the OME. I want to buy one soon but I have been a bit confused about where to buy and what I need. Toyota 4Runner and Pickup lifts, offroad parts accessories at the best and lowest prices This is what I have been looking at (the complete 4th gen kit). Is this the way to go? Teampwr2 I like your rig and want something like it (I'm sure you hear that a lot) I also like the look of osubeaver's rig (probably more realistic for me). The link I put in says it is a 2.5" lift but everyone says they have a 3" OME kit. What am I missing? I have an 06 SR5.

The reason OME only lists a 2.5 inch lift is because that is all it will give if you have extra weight on the 4Runner. Also, 2.5 is the max lift height Australia allows by law. If you do the light duty coils which works well if you have do not have extra weight from bumper or winch, you will get around 2.5 unless you add a top plate spacer. if you do the medium or heavy duty springs, you will usually get more lift but the ride will be rougher. We do not recommend using the mediums or heavies unless you already have extra weight. Also, the OME kit that we sell will lift the front 3 inches and the rear 2 inches so it will also level the 4Runner. You can also order it to maintain the factory rake.

Feel free to PM or call me if you have any other questions
