hell yes. its plenty of power.

there are people with the 4cyl 2.7 who do great offroad with it.

hell its enough on the road for me too... i have 33" tires, a surco rack with tire up top, etc and i dont get all that annoyed with the loss of power because it can handle it.

To me it is all in the gearing. With 4WD low and hi you should have enough power with the 3.4 for most situations.

With more power like the new 4Runners you have more wieght. It is a trade off more power more wieght.

Definetly not for accelerating fast but it pulls it's 5000lb payload limit fine and off roading there's no issues either.

Gearing is all you need. I had a 1982 toyota crawler that i built, it had dual t-cases with a stock 22R motor, i think they pu8t out like 100hp or something silly like that, but it would climb a tree if you wanted it to. Off road you dont need crazy amounts of HP or TQ, just traction and gears.

Of course a v6 is enough. A I4 is enough! Of all the 4x4s still in operation. the old land rovers are still the best and they all have I4s. Land rover started going down hill when the went with a v8 for the ignorant US market.

Check ebay and other classifieds since I notice alot of people are changing their minds about having an SC since gas prices have gone up and I've seen low mileage SCs go for under $1500 for the charger and sometimes $2-2500 for complete kits with fuel mods.
Be patient and look around for a deal.

supercharger not less reliable

you are gonna need more then just the supercharger inless you want to make your 3.4 a lot less reliable

It is made by TRD and goes in like a glove. the power difference is amazing and in rocky mountain driving. What infomation do you have that it is less reliable? Toyota built a few brand new that way. I talked to and he had no complaints. loved it matter of fact

v6 power

my 97 4runner has a v6, but nobody belives it because acceleration was so bad, is a supercharger the only way to increase acceleration/power
