3" Lift Question

Guys,

I'm about ready to install my new suspension, but I was curious on perch settings and what would yield 3" of lift evenly? I will be installing Bilstien 5100's all around with Tundra TRD front coils, and OME 890 rear coils. I recently installed a ARB front bumper, so the front end is a bit heavier than stock, but I am not sure what perch setting to set the 5100's to. Most guys run then on the 2nd perch for 2" of lift, but if I am looking for 3" of lift with a "leveled" look.

I have searched on this forum, and still have not found a definitive answer...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your coils should definitely lift you as well. Bilsteins + coils you'll have at least 3'

99SR5rva, what perch setting on the 5100's would get give 3" of lift?...3rd perch? If so, would it sit even or leveled with the 890's in the back?

Not sure which perch, I don't run bilsteins. I would just play with it until it's your ideal height since they are adjustable.

If you are assembling the strut I would try the middle first and see when it gets you and then go from there. I don't know the comparison is but I have 5100's with toytec springs up front and they are on the lowest setting and giving me 3" of lift. I also have no armor yet. Just completely stock bumper.

The spring/shock combo should give you 2+" on the lowest perch already (Mine was about 2 over stock, and I don't have any extra weight yet. I've got 890's on the back. I went lowest perch so I'd have a little rake which was what I got... It will ride pretty rough on the third perch, I'd suggest starting on the second and going up if needed.

Yeah, my bad. I realize this now. I was certain that I had previously read that in that thread.

Volkinator, thanks for the info! So, since the bottom perch yields 2+" of lift without any gear....if I went up to the 2nd perch, then it (in theory) should give me approx. -/+ 3" of lift. However, do you think with the extra weight of the new ARB bumper it would take it down below 3" or level it out?

I also forgot to mention my coils had a bunch of miles on them... are yours new? If so it'd probably be quite a bit more. I was going for more comfort than pure lift, and didn't want to deal with a diff drop and tearing CV's. But if you're worried I don't think you can go wrong with the 3rd or 2nd slot. Also, make sure the cup is the correct way. I've heard of people putting them in upside down. Makes a HUGE difference

I'd still try the 2nd. Can't hurt. If it's not enough you can always go up one more. I know I've seen a couple threads on it before. I think the general 'rule' that I've seen is for a 'level' truck:
1st perch w/ 906's
2nd perch w/ 890/891's

I haven't heard of anybody doing the TRD coils on the 3rd perch even with weight, unless they're using the 99 coils which are a lower spring rate. But even then, I've seen ONE person go to the 4th, and it was ridiculous lift and they blew their CV's instantly.

I'm a little more conservative and would start on the low side, I'd rather work my way up then do too much and break things... YMMV
