+3" Lift Requirements

I am looking to determine if there is anything extra that needs be modified after you lift beyond 3 inches say to 3.5 inches?
Do you need to worry about driveshafts?
CVs?
Brake Lines?

I know that at or close to 3 inches you definitely need UCA's, this concept stems from the fact can you fit 285s without cutting if you have a 3.5 inch lift in the front, ie; add spacers?

Thanks

theres quite a few threads on this, search for body lift or 35s. I am no expert and haven't spent much time researching but I want to say yes to all of the things you mentioned.

Remember adding more lift to clear tires is not the idea solution. The wheel will still follow the exact same range of motion as the factory suspension, but all that you are changing with the lift is the "static" suspension ride height. A 33"tire on a stock truck will rub the same amount as a truck lifted 3", it will just do so in different circumstances of compression/wheel turn.

If you are planning to 4x4 your truck you might just want to look at the trimming required and do it without a bodylift or excessive lift that can wear your CV's and also cause the ride quality to suffer. If your just going for looks, it won't be such a big deal and lifting higher may be acceptable.

FWIW, I run a 295/70/17 (33.7"x12") with only 1.75" of lift and no rub. Trimming has been done but it's nothing excessive.

Good luck!

You can always run narrow 33s and not have rubbing issues. 255/80r17 will fit just fine without a body mount chop or need wheel well trimming.

I'm running this size in Cooper's ST Maxx on a 3" lift without any rubbing, even at full stuff while offroading. The brand new spare also fits just fine in the stock location and doesn't stick down nearly as far compared to a 285/70r17.

You'll want/need new upper control arms to get a decent alignment with a 2.5"+ lift, and new brake lines aren't a bad idea. Especially on the rear if you go with an extended travel set up. Extended sway bar links are also nice to have so you don't have to worry about bending the stock ones. You could also get quick disconnect sway bar links so you get the ideal set up for both on and offroad.

Im running 33x12.5 on centered 9.5"beadlocks, ~2.5" suspension only lift. I added front glass and cut/plated the front body mount. No rubbing.
Fully adjustable UCA's will help position the tire in the wheel well (like the ICON billet with rod ends at the frame mount)

CV bind is your issue if you lift higher than 3" without extending the LCA out (long travel)

id rather not body lift.

really just looking to fit 285s / 33s without cutting..

I am running 33's (275/70/18) with wheel spacers and no rubbing issues on a 3" lift. lots of people have 285's with no rubbing so I think you'll be good especially if you have a 17" rim
