Do you need to get an alignment after the lift? I was playing with the idea of getting a 3" lift.

Yes, you need an alignment any time that you mess with the suspension.

RL ... where'd you end up getting it installed? Looks great!

Looks great RL. Like those BFG's. <grin> Your capability just went up several notches and the Dallas traffic will give you a little more respect now plus you can see better.

Yes Bobby, you absolutely need an alignment after a lift. You need to flex it and let it settle in a little first though.

Look at the pic closer. He's running BFG AT's which are not stock. I think they look pretty sharp.

Since I am off-road so much of the time, I am reluctant to change the factory wheels. The BFG (265-70 17) work very well. The installer said I could easily fit 275s but BFGs next size up is 285. So, I will stay with the 265s.

In the Ozarks that are a lot of sharp rocks. These BFGs have taken the abuse without any leaks. The stock Dunlop tires were not designed to take off-road use so I had constant leaks.

BTW: My 16 year old son wants me to get big chrome wheels. While I know Nitto has some new low profile off-road tires, I will stay with the tried and true 70 and 75 series tires for my use.

When I went from 265-65-17 Dunlop tires to the 265-70-17 BFG tires my odometer went from pretty darn accurate to 6.6% short. This measurement is using a GPS on a 100 mile stretch of freeway, thus darn accurate. So, I have to watch my speed carefully as driving the indicated speed limit is actually 6.6% fast.

New Photos

I wanted to take some daytime shots, but it rained. Anyway I went to the dealers annex lot and found a couple white 4Runners to get new photos.

I think that a small under reading of the odometer and speedometer is fine. The warranty lasts longer too.

The rear shot doesn't show much difference. I'll tell you though, the added 3" makes a big difference in the way the view ahead in the road. I now see thru the windshield of the big fat PU in front of me on the freeway.
