3 piece wheels. Do they exist?...

Now that the interior has been kiddofied with neoprene seat covers, floor mats and a bit of I.C.E., I will be moving on to the exterior. Specifically, wheels, tires, lift, body mods, etc. More specifically, and the reason for this thread, wheels.

I've been a member of the off-road Toyota community for a long time owning everything from a couple of FJ40s to 100 series. My '05 4Runner seams to be the best of the bunch. I love it and am looking to keep it until it dies.

Over the years, I have also been heavily involved in tuning/tracking/racing imports ('93 FD3S RX-7, '93 VW Corrado) and have always wondered why more components from that community don't make it to the SUV/Truck world. Namely, Three Piece Wheels.

I know of a couple of companies that have made them in the past. The only examples I can currently find are Compomotive wheels

and JAOS wheels

I am hesitant due to the cost of any and all JAOS or Compomotive products. On the other hand, 3 piece wheels make customizing (in terms of paint, powder, anno, offset, width, etc.) a breeze and if damaged, can be easliy fixed/replaced.

So, long story short, I'm asking if there are any other options out there or if I am SOL.

Thanks again.

i have had HRE 19x12 wheels on my other car before and they're easily priced out at $1K a wheel at a minimum. my wheels were $1200 per and that's with a good vendor discount.

i'm not sure it's very economic for a buyer spending $20K on a 4runner to spend nearly a 1/4 value of the car on aftermarket wheels that won't exactly look right on a rugged truck frame SUV.

i would consider HRE wheels on say a G wagon but not a 4runner. just not worth it. it'd look weird.

3 piece hre is nice, also u can get custom wheels from vellano i think, how about volk racing rims too? my moda 226 is 2 peice, im sure its good enough.

Volk makes an SUV specific rim but I think it is a forged one piece. Volk TE37s would be cool but for a set of forged Volks, I could probably get a set of wheels, tires and maybe even two spares.

HRE are nice but I think they may be a bit out of the price range that would fit the budget. Especially if I want a spare.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Any other info out there?
