3 Wheel Choices - Which One?

I'm just about ready to buy new 17" wheels, and I've narrowed it down to these three:

- KMC XD Enduro Black (0 offset) - I've read on this forum that 0 offset works very well on 4th Gen 4Rs
- AR Chamber Teflon (0 offset) - I like the teflon for easy cleaning
- KMC XD Revolver Black (-12 offset) - I'm wondering if there would be a problem with the -12 offset in general (too far outboard?), or especially if I increase tire size - would there be rubbing or some other interference?

Any help would be great, and all opinions are welcome!
Thanks!

Recently went through the same process of narrowing wheels down for my runner and it seems we had similar goals in mind. Black wheels with backspacing and an offset that would work with the 4runner. Check. You didn't mention what tires you were planning on running but the lift you have should be able to handle most reasonable tire choices. Ill have a 2.5/1.5 Daystar to go with the tire/wheel choice I settled on, A/T's made more sense for me but to each their own. The Pro Comp 7098 was damn affordable at $140 apiece shipped, has 4.5" of backspacing on a 8" wide wheel with 0 offset, and seems to fit with your black, six-spoke theme. Pictured are my wheels with 255/75r17 (32's) rolled in front of a Tundra wheel well (my 4runner was at a friends house) to show how it would fit in relation to a full size truck...should be similar to a lifted 4runner. Of the wheels you have listed, the Enduro was a frontrunner in my decision process until I saw it wasn't available in an 8" wide wheel, if you are looking for a 9"+ wide rim, youre golden. The center cap on the second wheel seems to stick out waaaaaaaay far and the third choice might have rubbing problems with the offset. Happy hunting, cant wait to get mine installed on my truck.

I really like the KMC XD Enduro Black (1st) because they just don't have standard off-road look. Also look and the 5 circles into the center.

Thanks Synister - great post. I'm going to go with the AR Chamber Teflons, but I made a slight mistake in my original post. The 17" Chambers have an offset of -12, and its the 16" Chambers that have an offset of 0. From what I've read around, it sounds like a 0 offset is better in general for our trucks, so I will go with the 16" wheels.

Still making a final decision on tire size. Something that will work nicely with my 3" lift, but not overkill.

Which tire are you going with?

I'm thinking 285/65-16 or 285/75-16 BFG A/Ts.

I hit a snag today. My tire place said that American Racing doesn't have any Chamber Teflon inventory, and doesn't know when they'll have more to ship. What's worse is that if I find and buy the wheels myself, the tire place won't offer a "no-scratch" guarantee when they mount them, nor will they install them on my truck.

Hmmmm - Maybe its time to try another tire place...

Sounds like a very weird shop. I would not use them.

What do you think of my tire size ideas? Do you think 285/65-16 (same diameter as stock 265/65-17 at 30.6") will look too dinky? I like the idea of showing off the extra space the lift provides, but I have the room... The other end of the spectrum is the 285/75-16 at 32.8" DIA. Perhaps something in between like 265/75-16 at 31.6" diameter.

I didn't read your entire thread but saw that you were thinking of the Teflon Chambers. Those are my next choice for rims if I upgrade again. I would go 285/75/16 if you have the room with 265/75/16 as my second choice. You would be suprised how even the .5-.75 difference under your diff can make on the trail. Went wheeling with another member here with similar lift and build yet he was hanging his diff up on the trail when I was not.

I think you should go with at least a 32" tire and strongly consider the 285 tire.

Did I miss which tires you are putting on?

Just found out today that American Racing changed the hub bore on the Chambers from 106 to 78.3. So, it won't fit a 4th gen 4R. Makes NO sense to me, since there are so many of us who want to buy that wheel.

I was READY to PLUNK down my MONEY TODAY - but now I'm back to the drawing board for what wheel to buy. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Post up sime pic of the ride with your new wheels. I wanted to go with ar chambers as well, but now looks like ill be goin with 7089 as well.
