30,000 mile service

So this past weekend I took my 4Runner to the dealership for service. I asked them to give me the standard 30,000 mile maintenance (oil change, spark plugs, rotate tires, cabin filter, etc). I got the bill, and it was $199! $80 parts, $100 labor, and the rest taxes. Did I get screwed? Until I got the 4R, I've always performed my own maintenance, so I really don't know what this should cost...

Also, should they have balanced my tires? Since I got it back, the steering wheel vibrates more than usual at 70mph.

Sounds like a good price. The only reason you would need the tires balanced would be based on tire wear problems showing that your tires were out of balance.

That is a good price, they usually charge around $299 and higher at the dealers around me.

Ok, thanks, I feel better about it now. I guess I've shown my ignorance there, but like I said, I've never paid for this sort of service before.

As far as the tire balancing, I guess I should get it done. I ran over a nail on a rear tire a few months ago and had that fixed. They may not have balanced it correctly and is now more noticable since the tire is in the front; there is definitely shaking in the steering wheel

It should be time to change your differential oils. Front and Rear. Dealerships usually change the front in a combination w/ the torque converter fluid.

Transmission Fluid and Coolant fluids may be next.

My bill for all 5 fluids was in excess of 500 beans... That's w/ a 10% coupon.
