As far as the ring and pinion depending on how long youve been driving it and how bad the bearings are but why risk it. I believe the v6 and v8 both use thhe same third member and I think the only way the ratio would be diff would if one was stick shift and the other was auto

Best not worry about wheel bearings, they wouldn't be at "specific" speeds. I had this issue with my Lexus and it was tires. Even though they had been rotated correctly and often they still wore in an odd manor. They mad noises as specific speeds. They can even do it at 5-6mm when dealers or most people suggest changing at 4mm. Assess your tire wear before going any further.

it does not seem to change if i sway left or right, brought it to my mechanic who said he is almost positive its a wheel bearing, but is is not bad enough to determine which side, says it does not do it when on lift either

Hard to say but if it was wheel beating I would have thought it would make noise at all speeds. Mine is different is at all speeds and I took it to the dealership and they told me it's the diff

I'm just trying to figure out if ask of the rear axle assemblies are the same for v8 or v6 just with different gear ratios. I've found some on eBay for right around 1000 dollars for ones with about 100k miles but it's hard trying to find a new diff

Another way to find out if its a diff or bearing is to remove the rear driveshaft and lock the center diff and take it for a ride if the noise is still there its a bearing if not its the diff. Only work for 4wd though

My failed front wheel bearings were barely noticeable below 55 mph, kind of felt like aggressive tires. Above 55-68 it almost felt like a manual transmission that was high in the RPM range. You could feel vibration in the peddle and steering wheel.
In my case it was only one side so when you turned side to side you could make it go away and come back. If both were bad, this may not be the case.

so i have this cyclical moan, i can feel and slightly hear it between 30-40 mph and between 65-75 mph seems worst around 67mph

it tends to be a moan and slight gas peddle vibration, no steering wheel shake at all, almost like a harmonic moan at 1 sec. intervals

driving me crazy, cause it's steady as a rock at 50 mph, below 30 mph and above 72mph

I do need and stab bar end link which I am replacing, i'm gonna try rotating the tires (prob to no avail)

any ideas? I had new tires put on but i have no steering wheel shake, could it be balancing?

My '03 had a similar noise when I bought it and the previous owner told me it was a tire balance issue or un-even tire wear issue. It was neither. Ended up being my left front wheel bearing. When I replaced the bearing I also noticed torn CV boots on that same side so, I swapped it all.

hmmm all pretty interesting but i had it up on a lift and the sound came from the driveshaft itself...so its most likely coming from the diff.

Gonna drop it off at dealership for a diagnosis, fig get a second opinion before $$

needless to say i will purchase the bearing hub assembly from bluepit, is there anything else i need to order?

be sure it comes as a complete assembly with bolts because you shouldnt reuse the hub flange and once the flangve is pressed into the bearing you cant get the bolts in/out

If it is cyclic and a "moan", it is highly unlikely to be a bearing. Mine was the driveline with U joints going and the drive shaft need to be rebalanced. Once I had that done, most of the vibration went away but there is still some residual cyclic vibration around 45. The guy who did my drive line work (removed, balanced, replaced U joints, polished for $195 with tax) mentioned my transmission mount confirming my thoughts of it being weak. Found one on Amazon for $25.

Also, stay away from the dealership. I had both my front wheel bearings done (2wd) for $350. Used some lesser aftermarket parts and I've got a guy who works at $50 an hour but still... $700+ for one side?
