305/70/16 pics anyone?

A lot of guys don't run those simply for the fact that you can get pretty much the same height tire for less. Those 305s cost more. Another reason being is the width. Wide tires are hard to get on these trucks without spacers, trimming/tubbing, and wheels that create a good match for functionality. Too much to worry bout when you can get the same height (close to) tire as a 285, and for less.
On a side note, a lot of hawaiin trucks run wider tires to accommodate huge width wheels. Not to say I haven't seen 305s on a 4runner with regular looks but its just too much a hassle when you can just get 285s. Maybe someone will help you out with pics. I'm sure it looks good, but for the sake of functionality, 285s work pretty well.
If you really want to see the width difference look for those running 315/75s. Those are like 12.5 wide and almost 35s.

I use to for a very short time, haha. They were on a 17" wheel though so they were almost 34s. Height wise they fit no problem but they were too wide to be functional for my use at the time. I bumped down to a 285/70R17 and they still rubbed but not bad.
The 305s would probably fit now but to hell with 17s. If I'm running that wide again, they'll be 35s

I used to run 305s on my runner. I love the wider look the 305s give over the 285s. I ran mine on stock LC wheels with no spacers and didn't have any rubbing problems. My friend Dalton ran 305s on his 4Runner with stock runner wheels and 1.5" spacers on each side in the front and he didn't have any rubbing problems either. When I bought new tires treadwright didn't offer a highway legal 305 so I just went back to 285s.

You will still be trimming, pounding and maybe a little tubing.

Yep Gerdo is right. You will need to do some pounding on the pinch weld, just like you would do to fit 285's.

My 305/70/16s rubbed like crazy in the rear. I have the skinnier black SR5 flares and I could not tuck my rear tires into the wheel wells with stock wheels. The fenders would hit the last 1/2" of the outside edge of the tires and the body would just sit on top of the tires. I don't know if the Limited flares or the chrome SR5 strips are any better for rubbing, but I would not recommend them if you have my style flares. Here's a couple pics of mine from a few years ago...

Bump revive! Just wondering if these tires would run just like 285s as far as the rpms go

Exact same diameter, assuming they are true to size, so RPMs should be no different. The 305's will probably be a little heavier, so they may feel a little more sluggish.

I see, nothing a super charger can't handle I guess...if I go that route.

I just went back to 285s. I'm a little sad about the skinny look but was tired of running muds. I really loved my 305s.
