30K maintenance, seems outrageous

We negotiated 4 years of Toyota Care when we bought the vehicle - otherwise the maintenance does stop at 25k.
 
I pull out the maintenance manual and look at what services are due BEFORE I drive up to the dealer. Forewarned is forearmed.
 
resurrecting this thread as it pertains to a question I have.

I bought my 2015 with 29,000 miles. I now have 35,000 miles.
To date I haven't done the 30,000 or 35,000 mile service, so I'm assuming they'll bombard me with that as soon as I visit the dealer for other issues.

that being said, are either of these services dire?
I have a 350Z with 125,000 miles on it and the only thing I've ever done have been oil changes, transmission/differential fluid changes, and spark plugs. It runs like a champ.

but the 4runner is a much larger beast, so I just want to make sure I'm taking care of it appropriately.
 
in the sense that toyota can use your failure to follow the maintenance guide to deny any potential warranty claims, yes it is critical (you can do it yourself, but you need to document).

and the 30k service included an oil change, so you're way overdue on that if it wasn't performed when you bought it

rotating tires every 5k miles is important to get the best life out of your tires, if you buy tires from discount tire they will do this for free and i assume other places might do the same.

the other items are inspection items that wouldn't hurt to take a look at (check all fluids, lubricate and check propeller shaft, look for leaks, etc...)

Need more info. Do you have service records?
If the previous owner only followed the guide then as [MENTION=113833]e60ral[/MENTION] said, you're way overdue for your 30k oil change.
If you can do ANY maintenance yourself... do it... and get the dealer to do only the items needed.

Check the fluid levels. Buy the engine and cabin air filters online and replace in 5 mins.

Have the dealer do a simple oil change and driveshaft lube (even though they will probably lie about doing this) and check or replace the diffs/TC fluids, depending on use.
Almost all the other stuff is BS but they will claim they did a multi-point inspection free as part of their business practice I'm sure.
 
oil change was done at 29,000 when I bought it, so I'm assuming I'm good there.

all records were kept up to date with the 5K, 10K, 15K, etc. It was a leased vehicle, so I'm assuming they had to be. I've checked my oil and it still looks good, not low and not anywhere near dark brown or black.

upgraded to TRD off road wheels/tires at 32,000 so I could rotate now, but probably good for a little while longer.

I'll order and take care of the engine and cabin filter, so all else looks good.

I did try to drop the vehicle off today for my 9 AM appt. at the stealership, but a system glitch somehow didn't show my appointment. 2 hrs later they hadn't even looked at it, so I just decided to up and leave. Will try again tomorrow.

(edit) the only thing that I'm unsure of doing myself is lubing up the vehicle (per Toyota's recommendations), but I have a shop around the corner that I trust 100%, so i'll let them have a look at it and see if anything needs attention under there.

Ok, ok. I did say the only things "I've" done to the car. And right now that driver's window motor is shot, so I just don't get to roll it down anymore. Ha!
 
I'm getting to that point where I have to start seeing how I'm going to handle maintenance going forward. At 23K miles after 8 months and I'm not getting any extension whatsoever. I'm not a DIY-er, but may have to start some things on my own to help mitigate costs. Interested to hear if anyone had their own maintenance questioned by Toyota when filing a claim.
 
Had my 30,000 service done this past weekend. $ 97.00 out the door. Oil change and tire rotation. They didn't try to sell me anything else. Now my wife on the other hand can be talked into anything. I try to tell her not to do all the extra crap but she gets it done anyways.
