32x11.5 tire help.

hey fellas. tryin to find out what everybodys opinion on buyin some tires. i just bought some cragar soft 8s 15inch. i know that 265/75/16 will fit and not rub but i havent been able to find anyone who has run 32x11.5.15s. i hope i can fit the extra inch of width without too much problem. i dont have any flares on my runner and i can take off the stock little mud flaps. some pics would be great and your opinion on what tire to get. ive been told to run bfg all terains. let me know what you think. thanks everybody, appreciate the help.

Do you have the wheels?
Do you know what the backspacing is on those wheels? (stock wheels are ~4 5/8")
How wide are the new wheels? (Stock wheels are 7")
Make sure they clear the front brakes before you buy tires.

the new wheels are 15x8. with a 4 inch backspacing.

The 8" wide wheel will actually make the tire wider than if it was on a 7" wheel. A 4" bs wheel will push the tire out ~5/8" plus with the wheel 1" wider, that moves it out another inch. Depending on the 265/75-16 are ~10.6" wide. A 32x11.5x15 is ~11.4" wide, the difference of ~.8" wide. That .8" is centered so it would be .4" toward both the inside and outside. That brings the inside back in by .4". This should keep the tire off the upper control arms. The tricky part is that the outside tire edge moved out by ~2" (5/8" + 1' + .4"). This may cause interference when turning. This interference would probably be on the rear side of front fenders.

Some brands run bigger than others.
I'm running Yokohama AT/S 265/75-16. The Yokos are bigger than most. I had very little rubbing (full stuff they would rub the top/inner fender/front). I added Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers. These caused rubbing on the rear side of front fenders.

I would suspect that you will have rubbing. A little trimming or melting of the plastic inner fender and/or pounding of the steel behind it.

Do the 15" wheels fit over your front brakes?

ok thanks alot. i really apreciate it. and i just ordered the wheels today. i didnt think that fitting over the brakes could be an issue. thats why i got the 4 in backspace. they had the choice of running a 4.75 in backspace as well. i can always return them if i have to if those would have a better chance fitting. i saw someone on the forum that ran the same cragar 15x8 on his but i dont know what his backspacing was. i think his username was quicksilver. or something like that.

Backspacing has nothing to do with fitting over the brakes. I think you chose correctly with the 4" bs. It is the 15" diameter that may cause an issue. I know that my sport has the bigger brakes and I could not use a 15" wheel.

If it has 15" stock wheels on there now, the Soft 8's should work fine. The 4Runners with the larger brakes came with 16" wheels and cannot fit the 15" ones.

alrite. thanks guys. all i have to worry about now is if the tires are gonna fit. still debating on if i should get the 31x10.5 duratracs or the 32x11.5 bfg a/t. i can get either ones for the same price. let me know what u guys think.

so i just test fitted the wheels and they rub on the caliper. so now i am buying a small spacer. hopefully this will fix the problem. also decided to go with the duratracs. i dont have fender flares so the 11.5 wide bfg's looked ridiculous. stuck way too far out. ill post pics later.

I just put the exact same set up on my 2000 last week. 15 inch black steel wheels (think I got them from Rough Country) and 32/11.50 BFG AT's. My lift is not going on till Friday but as of right now, I rub like crazy while turning. I definately needed to lift mine as I am going to be driving it every day. Dont get me wrong, its driveable, just not too fun while parking.

yea. i almost grinded down that lip on the caliper but decided that i would be better off buyin 1/4 in wheel spacers. i went with the 31 in duratracs and it looks amazing. i had to take the little mud flaps off the front bc it was rubbin. but now everything is all good. no rub anywhere.
