33x 10.50 Tires?

Has anybody run these tires? I have searched, but can't find a single thread on the subject.

I don't think I need these very wide tires that so many run. I'm pretty fine with my 265's, but would like a bit more height. The 33x10.5 would be taller but only a bit wider than stock, so I think this would work well for me anyway. Just curious to see if others have tried these and what were your thoughts?

I don't know anything about them but the Kenda Klever RT come in a 33x10.5x17 size. BFG makes the KO2 in a 34x10.5x17 size as well.

I was so tempted to pull the trigger on the KO2s in this size, but the price was just too much for me to justify. I think they would be a really good performing tire though, and a lot less weight than a 285/70 or 75.

Yeah they are quite pricey but I had a set of 265 C-rated KO2's that lasted me 60k miles with plenty to go so I do think they are a durable tire that wears well over the long haul. They're also D-rated and weight about 54lbs. I think they're the perfect size tire for our 4Runners but you're right, the cost is something that gives you pause.

There are a few options.

Cooper Discoverer, 255/80/17 is 32.8 x 10.2

BFG Mud Terrain 255/80/17 is 33.3 x 10.0

Nitto Ridge Grappler has a 255/80 as well

I would by a similar tire in a size that is cheap AND you can get out in the World when you destroy one........not have to order an wait for.

Sorry...I don't follow. Why would a 34x10.5 be significantly lighter than a 285/70? It's only a little narrower and larger in diameter?

Compared to my C-load 285/70 KO2s the 34x10.5 are 5lbs heavier, .7" taller and .5" narrower.

I suppose it all depends on your definition of significant. I guess I was really referencing the 285/75 in particular, because it is (almost) a true 34" tire, and is 5 lbs. heavier, which I consider significant enough to consider. But you are right, I did throw the 285/70 in there as well, and it's a mere 2 lbs. heavier in the E load range, which is insignificant in my book. The 34x10.5 is also a D load range, which if BFGoodrich made the 285/70 in a D would most likely be about the same weight.

And as was mentioned above, a C load rated KO2 is indeed lighter.

This is another reason why I opted to not go with the KO2 34x10.5
