35" spare tire mounting options?

My rig is about to turn 300k and was thinking of celebrating with a new mod. Ever since i added my lift and 35's ive wanted to add a full size matching spare.

I know i dont want it on top of the roof or anything like that...and im not too sure i want it on the rear hatch as i actually open that thing 100 times a day. I would love to be able to mount it underneath where the factory spare is. Seems like sonoransteel or someone fabricated something like this once upon a time. I would also like to retain a trailer hitch of some sort. Does anyone know of a place i can buy something like this or a "how to" on how to make it? Im open to all ideas.

Sorry for thread jack but I live in Keller as well!!
 
Only thing I could see doing is to mostly deflate the tire and put it in the factory mounting location. Only other option is building a cargo platform and putting it under that which will take up a lot of space.
 
Yes Steve of Sonoran steel did a modification that allowed him to fit a 35" under the truck. It basically involved cutting out the factory spare cross member and hoist then fabricating a new cross member out of DOM and re-installing the hoist to the new cross member. He also had the body lift on in order to get the extra height. Your 35 will hang down low still. I know his old website had the write-up but not sure the new one does.

I know if you do the 1st gen roll bar mod it makes a nice place to keep it strapped to inside the truck vertically. That is where my brother and a lot of other 1st gen guys keep theirs and a 35 fits perfect.

Sweet, small world! I actually live in Addison now but ill look for your truck when im in the Keller area.

cj80cruiser, deflating the tire is not a bad idea i hadnt really thought of that, but i think id like to come up with something where i can keep it inflated and ready to go.

I never really considered the inside because i always have the seats down and everything packed full! If i cant figure out something like the sonoransteel method i might have to really look into this roll cage. So the 1st gen roll bar mod means actually installing a roll bar meant for a 1st gen on my 3rd gen? Got a link on where i can buy one if i decide to go that route? If not ill search it:thumb3:
