I was interested in purchasing 35% tint all around on my black 07 SE. Does anyone have any pictures they could post? Even if its only the front two windows with 35% on them it will do!

I am also wondering peoples opinions on the 35% tint because in Colorado 27% is the legal limit but the tint shop doesnt carry 30

Thanks so much for that it really looks great I would go for the 20% but when I called the local police station the ticket would range from 500-5000 dollars if my tint was under 27%. Not worth it to me

WOW 500-5000 dollars is ridiculous. Yeah that is not worth it to me. Where I live the rules are different for trucks/SUV's & cars. Cars cant be no darker than either 35-30% (i forget), in other words your better off not putting anything because it is so light.
Trucks can have their windows tinted up to 5%.
SUV's can have their back windows up to 5%, but the front two windows must be 35-30%.
Personally, i would tint my ride double 5%, but $5000 is not worth riding dirty.

Its so outragous. In Colorado our city has the second worst cops in the state that is behind cops that have HUMMERS. All they do is pull over people all day. These guys in my town have NOTHING to do and won't mind slapping on a 5000 ticket. Another law is no tint on the front two and anything you want on the rest. But that would just look bad. I think i'll suck it up at take the 35%. Im so bummed cause I wanted 5% all over :bash:

I ended up getting my front two windows tinted to 35% a few weeks ago, because that's as dark as the shop would go. It is slightly lighter than the rest of the windows, I think a 20% tint would probably match the rest. I got my windows done by Glass Magic here in Lubbock, they charge 25$/window with a lifetime warranty.

This is my truck when I first tinted it, before I started going further and further towards limo. The fronts are 35% and the rear have 20% in this picture. As you can tell, the 35% is extremely light, but yes it is better than stock. (also, with 20% on the rear windows, it is still very easy to see inside the vehicle. This picture makes them seem much darker than they actually were.)

Thanks for the photo Josh. I would go for a 20% still, but as a 16 year old kid driving around with dark tint and speeding it would draw attention to it. Plus the fine of 500-5000 is scaring me off at least for a while.

I am going for the 20% i cant take the 35. I looked at pictures online in the bright sunlight and it barely does anything. If a cop pulls me over then i'll roll all the windows down immediately, if anyone has 20% all around photos that would be great. Thanks, I'll post pics as soon as i have time to go do it.

What is this $500-$5,000 fine you are talking about? I hope you aren't referring to window tint, because tint will get you a $10 fix-it ticket. You just have to show up to court and provide evidence that you took it off. Then it's another like $80 to put it back on if you choose to do so.

As you can see, 5% is not truly "limo" since you can still see through them most of the time (some of the pictures look much darker than it actually was.) Which is why I ended up with another layer over the 5% tint. Either way, 20% was much nicer than 35%, but I still was nowhere near satisfied with it.

The 500-5000 ticket comes from my local police station when i called them. They are the worst cops ever trust me all they want to do is bust kids for anything. Im going to settle for 20% all around for now and then go darker if i need to. Thanks for the pictures it looks really good. I also am taking of the tube steps. How did you take yours off?
if you put a meter on the rears they read 26%, 35% tint on the fronts, adding in the slight tint b/c of ac fron the factory, puts you at 27 to 28% depending on the tint. the only reason why 35% looks a little lighter in front is b/c the windshield has no tint. i tinted my fronts at 35% and looking from the side, its matches perfectly...you also have to pick a non-reflective tint as the factory stained rears have no reflective material in them

Here's a good site for tint laws.
The factory tint usually has somewhere between 5% and 15% shading in it, meaning it lets 85% - 95% (0.85 - 0.95) of the light through.
35% tint lets only 35% of the light through (obviously).
When adding tint over tint, you have to multiply the percentages to get the final resulting percentage.
So, the range for the above example is:
0.95 * 0.35 = 0.3325 (33.25%)
0.9 * 0.35 = 0.315 (31.5%)
0.85 * 0.35 = 0.2975 (29.75%)
You should be safe to get as much as 32% if your truck has 85% windows up front. I think the factory glass is 90%, and if so, you can go as much as 30% legally.
I'm pretty sure that tint is only a secondary law in CO (I know it used to be), meaning you have to be pulled over for something else before they can ticket you for your tint (not 100% sure though). So just make sure not to get pulled over. :biggrin2:
If you do get stopped, roll both front windows down right away (as soon as you pull over - way before the oficer walks up to the car) and be courteous to the officer. They usually won't hassle you too much if you show them respect (I know some don't deserve it).
When I lived in TX, I had moved there from AZ and had 25% tint on my honda, which had about 87% factory windows. The result was just under 22%, and TX law is 25%. They allow a 3% error. The 4th year I lived there, I went in for my emissions/safety inspection, and my car was rejected because the tint was too dark! :cursin:
The previous 3 years I had never had my tint checked (pure luck), but the shop I went to that 4th year happened to check it, and I was just outside the error band according to their meter. I had to scrape the tint off of the front window in order to pass the inspection and get my sticker for that year. Yes, I was only 0.25% off, but they had "calibration" windows that come with the meter, so they insisted the meter was accurate (it probably was). It was cheaper for me to re-tint than it was to get an inspection somewhere else, but boy was I pissed off!!!
You should have seen their reaction when I stuck my pocket knife into their meter to check the reading for no window (I just had to push the switch down). :bugeye: They thought I was trying to kill their meter! Their reaction was pretty funny to me at the time, but they sure weren't laughing. :lmao: :bonk:

500-5000? Did you put some extra 0's in there? lol. I think they were trying to scare you. I have had 15% all the way around for about a 2 years and i haven't had one problem with it yet. I got pulled over on 36th headed towards denver going 84 in a 55. (i think he was being nice cause if i was going 30 over or more he would have to arrest me). The officer didnt even mention the tint, and i drove right past him with the windows up. I had to go to court and the ticket was only $150. I highly doubt they would give you a ticket for that much... cause going 29 over seems a lot worse to me lol. I worried about getting pulled over for the tint earlier, but now i dont even think about it.

I live in Greenwood Village The worlds worst cops only to Lonetree who drive HUMMERS for there police. The GV cops just want to find trouble and only the little stuff matters. Denver cops are awesome they didnt give my friend a DUI, but down here in GV its so bad.

Around here we have lots of 4th gen 4runner cops, along with denalis/tahoes on 22s/24's, also dubbed out 300c's and chargers.
$500-$5000 is totally believable, they can give a $500 ticket (or more) PER WINDOW. So if you have 5% all around and a front strip that is too long, that's 3 windows equaling $1500.
My friend with a regular passenger car got ticketed for each window (6 in all) and it was over $2000.

Get on your back and look at the 3 spots that hold the tube steps on. Each bracket has 2 or 3 bolts securing it. I want to say you need a 12mm socket, but I can't remember right now, it's been a while. Either way, takes 5 or 10 minutes to do both tube steps by yourself. The only advice that may help is do the middle bracket last so you don't have to deal with holding one side up while doing the last bracket.
