35x14.5 "Ground Hawgs". Anyone heard of them? Reviews?

Hey team,

I've come across a set of 35x14.5x15 "Ground Hawg" tires. They come with chev 6bolts 10'' and 12''. I'll figure out the fitment, but I've never up sized tires before. He's selling the whole thing for $500, and the place is a 2.5hr drive from me. If these were any other brand, I would have jumped on it.

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good on the highway?
I drive mostly city and highway. I wheel once every week or 2 weeks.

Let me know guys. Any help is appreciated.

Reviews I've read said they wear like iron and need a chit ton of wheel speed to stay clean in the mud and don't work so well on rocks.

Ground hawgs are great off road but you don't want them for street use. They're amazing tires for mud, but are old school bias-ply (not radial) and won't ride well at all. I didn't even know they were still making em.

Ground Hawgs were basically the original Boggers back in the 80s. Had a few friends with them back the late 90s/early 00s but you rarely see anyone running them these days.

Ground Hawg 2's are the radial version of them although it looks like they are out of stock at the moment.

i'm going to pass on them. Don't feel confident buying them, and I have a feeling I'm going to regret not saving up a bit more and going for something I know will be good. I'm just worried that he never got the balanced well enough, and is finally tired of them. I'll be stuck with nasty vibes that I can't iron out myself, and eventually need to disclose the problem when I have to sell it.

Anything like that you want to check the date code, you could looked at a 25 year old tire

used to run them 20 years ago on my f150. they are good mud tire. at least in Ga red clay

Blast from the past , noisy loud balance awful . But work great in mud and look cool. I had them for years back in the 80's.
