#37 fuse power outlet blowing repeatedly. Help?

It’s the small blue 15amp fuse

I just replaced it. Turned the truck on and wasn’t getting power via phone charger in the 12v charger port and I checked the fuse and it had blown again. Clearly I have a short somewhere else.

Anybody have experience on this before I take it to the dealership?

pop the panel up, you may have something touching the socket

Its pretty easy to lift the center console area where the cig plug is... I would look in there for debris, something loose, or whatever.

Alternately you could disconnect the harness for the cig plug, replace the fuse, and check to make sure you have voltage. If no voltage, test resistance to see if you have a short. This area would be a very easy check with a multimeter.

If you do get voltage, and it doesn't blow, the cig socket has gone bad.

Also, check the accessory itself... have you tried using a different charger?

If the accessory has an internal short, its going to blow every time you plug it in.

Check both before taking it to the dealer.

Do your testing with a 5A fuse, it's kinder on the existing wiring if you do have a short you are trying to track down vs constantly dumping 15A worth of potential into the circuit every rime.

Wow thanks guys. Saved me a few hundred bucks from the dealershits.

Tested with multimeter and figured out that it was an internal short in the power adaptor I was using.

Just need to buy a new adaptor and good to go.



Total cost = $4 for 2 new fuses

What's funny to me is that you still overpaid lol.

Fuses are cheap... $10 gets you a box of 100+ fuses of various values on Amazon.

It's something good to have around. I keep a small zip lock with every value in my glove box for road and trail emergencies. I got a beater meter that stays in the truck too.
