3D Printed 4Runner Center Console Storage

Coming from a full size pickup we find our 2019 T4R center console less than ideal when doing long road trips or off roading. No place for two iPhones, a Garmin Oregon 750 and my wife's notebook in addition to drinks and snacks, etc.

As a solution, I 3D modeled some T4R center console storage cups in ZBrush and had them printed in gray PLA on a very old Makerbot printer at work. I've had them installed for a few weeks now and they work perfectly. They simply clip from the bottom up (no hardware) on the plastic console panels. They're rock solid and don't move or rattle around. I put pieces of self adhesive craft foam to the back of the cups so the PLA won't scratch the console plastic. These are utilitarian not super slick and perfect looking. They show the print lines and the surfaces are less than perfect.

I have one extra driver side storage cup available for Free to the first person that claims it and is willing to pay (PayPal) for shipping ($7-$8 small flat rate USPS box).

That's awesome! Looks to be something that can be helpful in organizing the area with those that have too big of a phone to put in any of the cubbies...note8 Will PLA hold good against +100 degree interiors/sun light?

The PLA our print services person used melts at about 420º F. Mine have been in place for a few weeks in the hot FL sun. The 4Runner is never in the garage at home and I don't park under trees at work. We've been terribly hot here lately and I've experienced no softening of the plastic. My understanding is that PLA is relatively UV resistant. These things cost me so little to print that I can replace them easily if they fail eventually.

Can you try making a console safe like a Lock'er Down one or a sheet to cover the emergency kit holder (not sure if this is the correct term) in the passenger side of the trunk?

I’m planning on a panel for the emergency kit spot in the rear. If it works I’ll post here. I’m not interested in a safe for my console, so that’s probably not going to happen.

I struggled with the title to this thread. Not sure exactly what to call these things. The cubby in the armrest is just part of the entire center console.

If anyone has a suggestion for a more informative title for the thread please let me know.

Im going to print one in a week or so. (Dont own a printer but friend does and is always looking for stuff to print

If your looking for stuff to design i think a rear mudflap delete cover would be neat. Especially printed in abs.
