I know you aren't really looking for hundreds of "design ideas" for this, but adding a rectangle opening in between the two cup holders, taking up some of the blank space in between(running front to back) would be awesome! Something to hold a cell phone, or slim wallet, cards, etc...Just an idea. Looks really awesome, keep up the good work. Def onboard to see where this goes!
Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been testing the most recent rough prototype for functionality and I'm happy to say that it is far better at holding cups when compared to the OEM holder. I largely use mine for fast-food cups on the go, and it handles those nicely. I've found that soda cans don't fit as well as I'd want them to, so I'll have to make a few minor changes for that. But overall, I am happy with it so far. Here are some pictures of the proto I've been using for testing. (Excuse the broken support legs, I apparently got a little to violent when removing the 3D printed support structures)

Still a ways from finalization, but it's getting there. Progress from this point forward may be a little slower as I'm moving in at TTU in a couple of days.
i dont know if you have the ability to print two colors or materials but i think if you could have a clear bottom that would be able to glow with the cup holder lights. i have led replacements and i think it would look cool to have the bottom glow.
Any update on the cup holder?
No updates yet. School has been busier than expected haha. I have been using the prototype (shown above) for a while now, and I'm impressed with its performance. The model just needs a little more tweaking.
hey dont rush this thing. you never know what better ideas you might come up with when using the prototypes.
i dont know if there is anyway to do what im thinking with the material you are using but to have parts that go down at an angle to hold smaller cups but able to be pushed out of the way if a larger item is put in the cup holder
