3D Printed Cup-holder Insert (Redux)
Been following this for some time and I'm astounded at the innovation. I've read through 14 pages to make sure I'm not asking questions that have been previously answered.
I mainly use two cups in my stock crappy holders: a 30 oz Yeti Rambler and 24 oz Nalgene. Both being similar to what is shown in post #235. In that post it states neither of the cups I use fully fit but the person doesn't "think" they'd fall over. Now that time has passed and a number of people have put these carefully crafted masterpieces to use, what do you think if you use these types of cups/bottles? Any issue with the security of the big Yeti or 24 oz Nalgene/Camelback bottles?
I'm so excited about these cup holders! I just need some feedback.

It is a pretty common request in the 3d printer community. It is also common to get a no, if he is selling them. A lot of times the only reason someone would charge money is to cover the time and effort needed to make more for people without a 3d printer. I can't speak for the OP but I would let him answer for himself, and not be shocked that someone asked.
Keep in mind that most 3d printers today are built up from the open source community. All most all 3d printers are built largely from the hard work of others. It is a different world.
Check out Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects every thing on that site took work to design, and everything if available to download and print for free.

I understand your perspective on the 3D community when it comes to sharing works with others. However for a product like this where it is clearly becoming popular among forum members, it is fair to assume there is always room for improvement and he should take advantage of this opportunity to make some extra money on the side making 3D prints of cup-holders. I'd hate to see OP get crucified for not wanting to share info. when it's making him some extra money. Can't wait for mine when it's ready to be shipped!

I was pointing out that the 3D community it is not safe to assume that he would not be willing to share them. I don't think it would be taken as rude. Different community.
I bet the print time for one of his holders are nearly 1/2 a day. He is not making a lot for his time and skill. Most people that are into 3D printing are not in it to make money. If the OP wants to share is files or not, I would not be shocked.

@TiN - What kind of printer are you running? What is the print time on this? What filament are you using?
I am a bit surprised that there is not more of a following in the offroad community. I think the idea that if you smashed something on a rock, you could just go home and reprint it.
I just got my Prusa i3 mk2. I am putting it together with my kid. I was thinking mounting a few of these around would be fun.

As for the file sharing, I've decided to hold off on distributing/selling the file for the time being. However, this may change in the future.
Great work man!
I think it is a good idea not to share the files. Not saying any of our members would do something dishonest with the files but I have been burned before. That is your intellectual property so you should guard it as you need to.
