Hi I am brand new to this forum and I have a question about checking my transmission fluids.
So currently my 3rd generation 4runner is leaking some kind of fluid. I am in the process of trying to pin down what type of fluid is being leaked. So far I can tell that there is at least some oil leaking.
I am planning on checking the transmission fluid as well, just to be safe. I looked through the manual and I have not been able to find anything about how to check the transmission fluid. I have read online that there are two markers, one being for hot and the other for being cold.
If someone could give me a idiot's guide to checking your transmission that would be awesome.
I have to make a 75 mile drive home from college in two days (12/19/2014). I just want to make sure that I am not running low on transmission fluid and cause irreparable harm.
Also I have been getting a smell from under the hood that smells like a mix between burning rubber and burning plastics. Does anyone have a insight on this smell?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
