3rd Gen 4WD MPG?

Well winter has finally struck in Northern New York and this week we got 1-2ft of snow with temps never getting above 32. There were a few mornings I'd let the truck warm up for a couple minutes before starting into work and several trips into work (15mi) with the truck in Hi 4WD 75% of the time. I filled up the tank today and calculated only a 13.3MPG for this tank! I had a 19.6MPG the tank before this one!

I was wondering if anyone knew the approx. MPG using 4WD Hi and how much gas you burn in an hour at just idle park. Trying to figure this puzzle out.

I'm vexed, terribly vexed...

4wd does do a number on your MPGs period and if you were in 4wd and had to be on the gas a bit to maintain a good speed up hills and such also contributes. I normally see almost 17 around town but that dropped down to 14 with all the 4wd usage over the last week.

With just some 4wd high I went from 18.8 during summer months to about 16.
Seems like mpg drops with cold weather even without 4wd engaged.
This is with fairly aggressive driving, city/highway mix, 75-80mph highway.

I live in Buffalo (snow capitol) and average high 17's to high 18's depending on traffic speed. I have a 2000 6cyl sr5. I use bridgestone blizzaks during the winter and rarely have to use the 4wd. However, when I do the mileage does go down. I usually ony flip it on every couple weeks for a few miles to keep everything lubed and moving.

I've heard about the blizzacks....are they really that great? How much did you spend?

I've got an '02 V6 w/ 97,000 miles. Bought it in October. On a trip last week that was 25% hilly interstate in WV and 75% extremely hilly two-lane in WV I got 19 mpg. I had four people and all the gear you take on a ski trip (nothing on top though). This is my wifes vehicle and she never checks the mileage, so I don't know what it "normally" gets.
